So people should get a life WITHOUT reality and truth? Yeah, the agenda is to push ahead with any idea our local gestapo want to enforce. Only a few people have any actual say and don't get in the way if you don't agree. In fact, don't even bother to ask any questions. And don't forget to salute and recite the pledge as a Friend of Coal.

People amaze me sometimes, one minute it's why doesn't somebody do something about all the negative selfish people in this County holding us back? We also complain about the deals cut in back rooms and us not knowing what our elected officals are doing and why can't they get along. Then something like this tourism deal comes up and our elected officals together do something about it and then we beat them up. I may not agree with all of the particulars in this deal but I will give them all credit for letting me see what they are doing and hope they continue doing it that way instead of hiding in some back room.
You need to wake up! Let the developers develop but leave the tax dollars out of it!

"I am here from the government and I want to help."!!

Ronald Reagan said this statement should be one of the taxpayers BIGGEST FEARS!!! WAKE UP!!

Every time a project like this has taken place in this county the only people to benefit are the GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS!!

I don't believe any of them have ever had a real job, that could support their lifestyle.(And don't say lawyering is a real job).

Can't wait to go stay in the 4 star motel, drink a few beers, chat with elite, play some golf, eat like a pig at the new restaurant (over priced),No wait a minute, that Hotel will bring so many people to the City of Pineville, to do what ? Look at the fools who think a Hotel will bring tourist to the community. Oops forgot about Mudd Crawlers or maybe the PGA will be impressed with the 4 Star Hotel and put Wasiato on the touring circuit. And Albey says he's against alcohol. anyone ever been on a trip with him and Lynks. WoW

Replacing the members isn't a bad decision, but the timing is horrible. Playing the blame game wastes time and energy. You've known this was coming and opposition was certain. If you were going to replace members with people guaranteed to vote your way, why not make it at a time when it looks a little less reckless? Now it's personal. It looks like sour grapes. It looks petty and unprofessional, and people are scrambling to boycott some of the very businesses liked and needed in the area. This makes no sense.
The admission of being "lax" is commendable, and thank you for that, but this isn't the only issue where we're behind.
I for one would love to see people with some sense and without baggage *under* 40 involved in what happens in Pineville. Some young blood and new ideas could do this town some good. Too bad those people are either long gone or have enough of an idea of what they'd be getting into to keep them from getting into it.(Most people think those "in charge" *are* youngsters, which is funny, but also shows how ancient the thinking is around here). Even if the hotel doesn't happen, this area needs to use the resources it has to bring in tourists. Believe me, there are options. No one is thinking this way. If some of the "kids" under forty were to get together and move back, and motivate others to step up, and *some* were to accept this change without going ballistic, Pineville could become better and move into the future. At least maybe get us to the 1990s. Oh well, I can dream.

From a reliable source: The major part of the funding of the proposed hotel in Pineville is money from Iran!

Just wondering. The only two things that ever seem to work are coal and tourism. And we haven't heard much about coal lately. Maybe we just haven't handed out enough slogan stickers. Or found the right one to blame. But if you think things are bad now, wait until coal severence money is gone. The job of Judge Executive will be about as worthless as that of Constable. OK, I know what some of you are thinking....

I read through the articles and I am a tad-bit perplexed on the reason(s) for posting all the information. By reading the articles it appears Middlesboro is pro-active in trying to better their city. They are utilizing Ms. Barton for the reasons stated in the articles. Does Pineville have a Main Street manager and is it possible the articles concerning Ms. Barton had been placed in the Pineville Sun? Just wondering if this is a bash against the lady or are you are sincerely trying to inform the citizens who read this forum? I would appreciate if you could research the Pineville Sun and report your findings. If Pineville is not getting representation from this board then perhaps they could create one of their own or base Ms. Barton's office at the court house.

Who...Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

I love when people say "from a reliable source". Care to reveal your source for some credibility? We could all use a good laugh.

It has taken me several hours to find out who is on the Tourism board and now that I know I will never eat at Shades of Brown again and I will not do bussiness with Ideal print shop ever and I think anyone who cares about Bell County should do the same! I also was told the people who operate a bed and breakfsat in middlesboro were against the Hotel project too but I don't know the name of it?? Don't let your family stay at the sleep inn or holiday inn either. If we all join together we can make them know that what they have done is wrong!!
How long did it take you to find out the Tourism Board members serve staggered terms of three years? Since Brock has been in office about six years, by my calculation he's had a least two chances to replace everyone on the board. Guess he was way more "lax" than what he let on.

And state law says the commission is audited every year. Brock just now finding that out? He hasn't seen a copy? Maybe check with your secretary, Brock. Law says the auditor was supposed to send you one. Another "lax" problem? Apparently, we need to send you a box of Ex-Lax.

I believe Pineville had a Main Street manager at one time until Bob decided they didn't need one. Seems like the guy who owns most of the business real estate around town wanted all his buildings refurbished at taxpayer expense. So people who wanted to see changes made just gave up.

I recall reading years ago in the Pineville Sun there being a City or Main Street manager. I also recall he was quite diligent in improving Pineville and one example was the opening of the theater. It appears the reason nothing has moved forward is as you stated; Madon dissolved the position.

The young lady in Middlesboro has worked hard in bringing activities to downtown Middlesboro and she would be a good asset for someone in Pineville to speak too. In my opinion it would be beneficial for Pineville to re-evaluate the manager position.

I think we all can agree things need to improve in Pineville and hopefully we are watching progress in it's infancy.

Does she work closely with the tourism group like the young lady in Middlesboro?
