No. Mr. Asher still owns it. The property up towards the head of the lake and around it is owned by the park. Unless you live there or have a fishing club membership, you're trespassing.

Yes, the boat is included in the fee, along with a key to the room with the anchors, life jackets, and oars.

u do get to use it. you get your drinking water dont ya...if it was open to the public it would ruin the lake...ppl laying up drunk, leaving trash everywhere and destroying a beautiful area in an otherwise dump of a town. the ppl here dont have pride in themselves and wouldnt respect it if it were free. id never join there again if they opened it up to the scum. pay your dues and follow the rules, its not that much money. trust me if you want to fish there u will see that a memebership based program helps protect the integrity of the lake. i be damn if they turn it into another cannon creek. if u had a clue bout how things work or anything else you would see the pay system is great to protect the quality of the lake. my fam has been members up there for as long as i can remember, way before i was alive. its a lil fam tradition and i hope to take my kids there one day and hope and Pray that its as clean and beautiful as ever when i do. ppl dont take pride or chip in to make the effort to preserve what i think is the best thing the boro has to offer...fern lake dont go a changin. id rather it be condemed before opened up to the public. its part of my heritage and would really hurt to see the exclusive long term members have to worry bout there cars getting broken into while there fishing. tell ya what just go to cannon creek it seems like it would suit u better. i dont think your fern lake material just yet. study up and use your noodle a lil more then maybe u will see my point of view. im not being smart, dont take it that way its just obvious u dont know or havnt put much thought into what you say....the way of the world just blurt shit out and not think about what u say before u say it.

That is part of YOUR HERITAGE??? The lake belonged to my greatgrandfather before the park "bought" it for 50 cents an acre. IF any of it was to be sold it was supposed to be sold back to my family for the same amount. That didn't happen. Ashers got it like they have took everything else they wanted. There used to be haouses around the lake. MY FAMILY'S HOUSES !!!!

im sure they agreed to sale it back for the same amount...seeing that back then they paid way less that what it would go for today because of inflation. besides that why would your fam sale it if they had to sale it im sure they wouldnt have the money to buy it back. also im sure u would have the contract if in fact that was the deal but nobody is stupid enough to do that. they also didnt sale the lake, just the property around it...wow why are some ppl content on making themselves look stupid? its sad they dont even realize there doing it. God bless you.

Why did my family sell it?They sold it because they were forced to. The goverment told him they were taking the land, all 300 acres of it, and yes he owned the lake. I don't have the contract, but my cousin does. He and my father were going over it just before Dad died.Wow why are you content on making yourself look stupid? I don't need your god to bless me, only the real one.

If this was back during the Depression, government bought a lot of land like that for next to nothing. Many people had no choice because they were broke and nobody else had the money to buy. But the original owner should have had the Right of First Refusal.
