Full story: Hartford Courant

Thank you for bringing Maromas and this part of the Mattabessett Trail to a wider audience. As much as I enjoy having it all to myself, I am convinced that its continued existence depends upon engendering an attachment to its rocks, Mountain Laurel and reservoirs.

I've been VERY familiar w/ Resev. 1 for many years. For those of you familiar w/ the area when you pull up to it and see the no tresspassing signs covered by overgrowth it gives a sort of spooky feel, espec. right before dusk.
Now there are local legends or stories about what is up in that mountain if you follow it across the path between the 2 bodies of water. Back in high school some ppl said that "vampires" used it as a place to gather and that there's a very large rock at the end of the trail w/ blood on it from sacrifice... Others have ben there and watched ppl walking and jeeps/pickup trucks on early Sunday mornings drive up into there filled w/ 4 ppl mostly older ppl and have ALWAYS given a dirty look to anyone else there. A few ppl have mentioned this is a gathering place for Occult activity a couple times while there jumping off the rocks into the beautiful water 20' below the police have arrived and given tickets for trespassing after a friendly old man walks buy 20 minutes earlier up into the mountain and doesn't come back down.
Does anyone else know of anything "strange" going on up in the path? I'm Meriden and Middletown I've met a good number of ppl that have heard the same things about this place - OH NOT to forget about the VERY strange neighborhood of 3 houses on the back side if follow the road all the way around in a loop.. The first house is all fallig apart and pink w/ the number 666 on the mailbox, there are 2 other old farm houses there that look VERY out of place as if still in the 1930's up there. I've been under the assumption of something weird in that mountain for a few years so please anyone else w/ a story or fact about what is going on there? T Sperry

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Pisces

You should have a lucky break today when fate steps in and takes a hand. For instance, a situation may seem to be heading for disaster when you're suddenly bailed out in ways you would never have imagined. However, this doesn't mean you can take foolish risks in the hope that things will work out all right because there's no guaranteeing that they'll do so automatically.
