1988 Picher OK, the unidintified objects in the sky

Does anyone remember back in 1988 or 89 I was about 5 or 6 and it was dark outside but there were flying objects in the sky all over Picher?? Anyone out there remember that?

YES I remember two things happen around that time. One was siteings of UFO's at night, there were many people parking on the side of roads and climbing chat piles to see if they could see them. BUT BUT BUT, the much Much MUCH bigger story was that a 'strange but explainable' as the government and news reported was that for a night or two the night sky was green and glowing it actually looked biblical, I lived in Picher and we saw the 'Northern Lights / Auroar Lights' it was AMAZING! Scientist said it had something to do with a ice cap that had broken off and the sun/moon light was glaring off of it, or something like that and thats why most of the people in the central USA that had clear skys could see them. I remember just about everyone in town was outside in there yards looking at the strange night skys and some were talking about it beening a sign from God. I'll never forget it!

I've done some research on this 'once in a lifetime event' happening and found that there is a conspiracy theory that says (can see on youtube) that around that time the government conducted atmospheric test that did/does interfer with the auroar lights. I remember these two things happening in Picher around that time PLUS one other because I lived just a few blocks away, CNN was showing live video of Picher because the old Martin's store on main street caught fire and had explosives in it and CNN was there to report it. Thats was around 1987 or 1988 too.
