Hi Adam,

Your meerkat cam is a huge hit! THANK YOU for taking good care of the kats for 9+ years -- an accomplishment to be proud of.

Feeding time is fascinating. Thanks for showing the food bowl to the camera and hand-feeding them so they all get enough food. After you leave, one kat often hogs the food bowl. They must love hunting live bugs like in their natural environment.

One request: Please raise the camera slightly so it does not cut off the head of the meerkat sitting on the top peak of the termite mound. It's fun to watch the sentry on the lookout for predators.

Please pass along our thanks and praise to Miami Zoo management. We will continue to spread the word about your superb webcam to many other Meerkat Manor fans. You are getting famous!:^D

Hello, If I move the camera up it will not show any of the ground where they are fed and hang out most of the day, sorry,

Jo and Brad, meerkats are adorable yes and fun to watch but they are highly territorial and are not good pet material. If you do research online you will find that owning one in the USA is illegal.

This is why these web cams are so important to me, I can adore these creatures from afar.

Thank you for pointing out that it is "illegal" to buy or have a meerkat as a pet in the USA and many other countries.

Jo and Brad:
If you want a meerkat-ish type pet for your son, try a domestic ferret. They are cute and comic and available in most states, though in some states it is illegal to own a ferret as well.

The best thing to do for Alex is to adopt one of the meerkats at the Miami Zoo in his name. Also there is a new meerkat movie due out in April - May, called Meerkat Manor: In the beginning or something like that. It's the story of Flower Whiskers rise to power over the meerkats at the Kalahari Meerkat Project/Reserve where Meerkat Manor is filmed.

If he'd like to interact with meerkats take him to Fellow Earthlings in Palm Springs, CA. He will be able to sit and enjoy being with the meerkats at the reserve.

Okay, sorry but for those of us who love meerkats we are rather protective of them as I am sure Adam is as well.

These zoo Meerkats are so happy and healthy looking that I am sure they are being looked after with love and compassion.

Thanks, OK here it is NICE TRY. Brad was just kidding around, I will send out a TOY meerkat for Alex ASAP!:) All the Meerkats will live out their lives very happily where they are. No one worry about it.

The Mob we have is just for display and not for breeding. Their bloodline is being represented at another zoo with a breeding group from the same family. We are careful not to over-represent any one bloodline due to possible inbreeding a few years from now.

Did they ever have that contest to give names to the meerkats? It was mentioned on the nbc6 interview,(which was really cute).

I didn't see them with the boiled eggs...will you be giving them more anytime soon? I would love to see that. I try to watch feeding in A.M. and at 12:30pm.
