SENATOR ROBERT MENENDEZ HONORED
AS ANC-NJ MAN OF THE YEAR

--Garden State Armenians Thank Senator
for Blocking the Hoagland Nomination

RIDGEFIELD, NJ - More than two hundred supporters of the Armenian National Committee of New Jersey (ANC-NJ) were on hand this weekend for the granting of U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) with the
grassroots organization's prestigious Man of the Year award.

The ceremony took place on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at the Rockleigh Country Club in Rockleigh, New Jersey, during the
organization's annual banquet. The elegant program was attended by a cross-section of Armenian American leaders from the New York metropolitan area, Church leaders representing Armenian Apostolic,
Evangelical, and Catholic communities, and, from the Republic of Armenia, a very special guest, the Honorable Vahan Hovhannisyan,
Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament.

ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian introduced the Senator, noting his long history of support for the democratic aspirations of the Garden State's Armenian community. Hamparian reviewed the
Senator's strong support for expanded U.S.-Armenia ties, his devotion to the proper recognition of the Armenian Genocide, his
energetic protests of the unfair firing of the former U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, John Marshall Evans, for speaking truthfully
about this crime, and - most recently - the Senatorial "hold" he has placed on the President's new nominee for this post, Dick
Hoagland, over his denial of this crime against humanity. To thunderous applause and an extended standing ovation, ANC-NJ
chairperson Ani Tchaghlasian invited Senator Menendez to accept his award.

In accepting the award, Sen. Menendez offered heartfelt remarks, stating that, "despite denials by the Turkish Government, despite the current Administration's position, we know, we know, the atrocities committed between 1915 and 1923 constitute genocide." Noting that countless historians had characterized the events of
1915 to 1923 as genocide, he reminded those gathered of his unwavering support
for truth and justice. "When I saw what
happened to the previous Ambassador, and when I saw what Ambassador
Hoagland referred to in his proceedings,
I was glad to have arrived in the United States Senate in time to send a very clear message,
and use my power as an individual Senator of the United States to
put a hold on his nomination. I will continue that hold on his re-
nomination." Interrupted repeatedly by applause, the Senator
concluded his powerful remarks by thanking his supporters, in
particular the Armenian National Committee of New Jersey.

The Armenian National Committee of America is the largest and most
influential Armenian American grassroots political organization.
Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and
supporters throughout the United States and affiliated
organizations around the world, the ANCA actively advances the
concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of
issues.

Republican Chris Christie BOOTED New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine from office last night, THRASHING the deep-pocketed Democrat after one of the nastiest campaigns in the nation.

With 99% of precincts reporting, Christie had 49%, compared with 45% for Corzine. Independent candidate Chris Daggett had just 6%.

"We are going to pick Trenton up and turn it upside down," Christie told supporters in his acceptance speech.

In ousting Corzine after just one term, the 47-year-old Christie overcame a $12 million spending advantage by Corzine - much of it poured into ads mocking the GOPer's girth - and the full weight of the Obama White House.

President Obama stumped with Corzine five times, putting his own capital on the line in a race that many - rightly or wrongly - cast as a referendum on Obama's agenda.

In the end, independent voters swung heavily toward Christie, making the former U.S. attorney the first GOPer to win a statewide race in Jersey in a dozen years.

It was much the same story in Virginia, where independents powered Republican Bob McDonnell past Democrat Creigh Deeds, 59% to 41%, making for a Republican sweep on the gubernatorial front.

Both Republicans piled up 2-to-1 majorities among independents, the same bloc that helped Obama rack up big wins in both states a year ago.

"This is a wakeup call for all incumbents, and that includes President Oboma," said one former Democratic Party official after surveying the wreckage. "People voted their anger and fears about the economy, and you can't insulate Oboma from that." Many say Governor Chris Christie would make a great president in 2012.

==========
Oh yes ALL Cubans should be categorized as African Caribbeans or African Hispanics REGARDLESS of skin color as you know some like Sammy Sosa bleach their skin .
That could explain how so many look so old so fast .

The time WJDC posted a youtube video of him looking at his watch. I thought such a frail boned ,liver spot covered arm belonged to a 90 yr old man.

You could see the frailty the weak bones in the arm and skin with no elasticity ,no texture . Like an old frog .

Let me make my critical views about OBAMA.
His two failures so far
1
not putting the culprits who had damaged the human dreams of USA
2
not correcting the Cuba Embargo.

Of course i will observe Obama and add some more critical comment based on logic and decency.

Well said. I agree the greedy fascists who stole with impunity and have hurt this country so badly he should have arrested and the fascists who supported terrorism should also be in jail.

The embargo needs to be lifted well said

Stop Cuban refs from entering this country....that would be a great idea. If any rafters / balsero try to float over here, just adopt a "shoot to kill" policy. The Cuban scum that have floated over here over the last 20 years are not even worthy of living.
