"Tomas Regalado seems pretty upfront about his core values. Those three words are printed in bold atop of hundreds of blue-and-red billboards and bus ads all over town proclaiming his run for mayor.

So why won't he admit that he once helped raise thousands of dollars for a convicted terrorist?

The record seems pretty clear cut. It's right there in a 1983 Miami Herald headline: "$21,000 Raised for Alleged Terrorist." In the third paragraph, Regalado proudly proclaims that his radio station - WRHC, where he worked as news director - pulled in thousands with an on-air pledge drive.

The cash went to a fund to pay for the legal defense of a guy named Eduardo Arocena. Ring a bell? Arocena is only the most notorious Cuban terrorist ever prosecuted in the United States.(You can read a New Times feature on Arocena here.)"

Any Cuban who has the audacity to call Muslims or ANYONE a terrorist need to look at "our own" .
ONLY in ethnic voting radical cuban stronghold Miami could this guy get elected.

"Thanks" To majority of Miami's Cuban voters this is the new Mayor. No one can argue that the MAJORITY voted for this man as he won.
UNREAL.

"Regalado helped raise more than $21,000 for a defense fund for Eduardo Arocena, a charming guy who set off 32 bombs from Miami to NYC in the '70s. One time, he even ordered a political activist machine-gunned to death in front of his little kid."

lol thanks. What is interesting is I have NEVER said anything without an actual newspaper ,etc link to back me up.

Yet these self defeating stupid ethnic fascist voting Cubans on this board spew out all types of nonsense. Like "I am not Cuban" ,etc ,etc.

They are so dense that they feel obligated to stick up for any Cuban politician because he/she is Cuban.
MANY of these politicians, official rob them and yet they still support them.

I have always said the ONLY thing I have in common with these people is that I was born in Cuba. Other than that most sicken me.

Did you see the NY Mayor race it was very close between a White Jewish American candidate and a Catholic African American candidate. BOTH VERY GOOD.
EITHER would be hundreds of years better than ANY Cuban Mayor this place has EVER had. In NY in any real city you earn the vote. Ethnicity and hating Castro wont cut it.

In NY ANYONE can win an election as the masses there are NOT mostly ethnic voters .
Here it seems that you better be Cuban and perhaps the more extremist the better.

Thats exactly the point the trash that Miami Cubans vote for as long as he/she is Cuban.
In reality it is the Miami Cubans who are losers are the constant corruption, self serving cuban politicians and these many seperatist thinking ,ethnic voters are the one's that get screwed.

There are no greater self defeating voters than in Miami.

In truth I couldn't care less about you idiots and enjoy watching you blind rats suffer but since I live in Miami will continue to speak my mind.

Banana Republic...getting worse every year
I can hardly understand what Regalado is saying because of his thick accent and having limited command of the English language.
I live in unincorporated Miami- Dade County, so I don't vote in the City of Miami elections. It woild have to be the lesser of two evils...both candidates were horrific. I have lived here all my life, and the politics have become dominated by corrupt politcians... The Cubans most notably. Now they got rid of the Gringo police chief. Maybe we will have another Miami River Cops episode. The police union wants a Cuban in there, of course.

Agree 100%

I think the previous police chief (the gringo) was fine and doing a great job. I am losing my respect for Regalado. If he chooses the Cuban guy instead of the black guy I will really be on his case. And you are right after so many years here you will think these Cubans could get an English pronunciation improvement course.

"If he chooses the Cuban guy instead of the black guy I will really be on his case. "

At this point that doesnt matter as all the movers and shakers are Cuban. Congress-Senate-Mayor-majority of city councils, etc.
Whether police chief is Cuban or not he will dance for his Cuban master and serve at his discretion.

The police chief who is now leaving knows this all to well . The favors the corruption the police terrified (I know 2 police) to ticket city officials, politicians and their family will not change.

If your pulled over for DUI your going to be aressted and RIGHTFULLY so but if your the son, daughter, family member of a mover and shaker you get driven home and your car is driven home for you nicely parked in your drive way and that is the Cuban politicians world in Miami REGARDLESS of what race/ethnicity police chief is.

When you know a Miami retired police you truly understand the unreal corruption, double standard in this place.

One thing is a Mayor who once had a fund drive for a convicted terrorist but another is a Miami media that as a whole seems either terrified to call him out on that or simply refuse to say anything about it.
That is a true sign of a Banana Republic with one powerfull group , org controlling the information.
The media here other than Miami Herald as a whole is tailor made for these politicians.
The local tv "news" rather report on Brittany Spears new puppy than corruption. It is NOT like this in real citys with real standards.
"I have lived here all my life, and the politics have become dominated by corrupt politcians... The Cubans most notably"
As time goes on its more and more Cubans.
For every self serving, corrupt politician who laughs at this place and the people.
There are COUNTLESS of self defeating ethnic voters who DESERVE to be robbed by politicians, city officials and as many non ethnic voters who are to stupid to vote.
The combo has been deadly for Miami.
