The bowl was put back because the zoo was told of what happened and responded immediately. Thanks metro zoo.

Thank you ,i know you will look into this matter!!!!Iwish i could be there to do that but,i live too far away!!!!!!!!!! Will check on meerkats later!!!!!!!!!!

Lil wrote: I miss seeing the meerkat when he/she is on the top of the mound. It is cute when they stand up and turn around and look right at the camera. But not now ... can't see their cute faces *sigh*. I don't know if you were reading when I posted about my trip down there. But, the enclosure is fairly small and if they move the camer back up to where we can see the full kat at the top of the mound we would lose some of the ground activity, which is where they play most of the time. We just have to settle for them standing lookout on one of the lower peaks.

looked like it was quite a big one maybe 18 20 inches -one was on the mound near the hole with one end, and two were tugging from the bottom. i hope they all got a good bite for a extra tasty treat. i left two messages at the zoo and sent e-mail for them to check out the little kats to make sure they were okay. i am sure they will go to bed tonight with full tummies...

I've noticed a decrease in the posts lately, which I hate to see. Not sure why - but it might help if so many posts weren't questioning the keepers' abilities to take care of the meerkats. I can tell you from the experience of being down there that there are plenty of zoo employees always in the area and if there appears to be any real threat or danger they would be there very quickly. This exhibit is in the children's zoo and is next to the petting area - which makes it even more visible to employees. Karin - your posts are always interesting and informative, and I miss reading posts from KalhariAngel & Fluff031. There are a few others that have fallen by the wayside - hope they are still out there watching. I do think those questioning the keepers should allow Adam and crew to do their jobs and enjoy the fact we can watch these absolutely incredible little animals. Just my opinion.

I suppose intent and how something comes acrtoss can be very different. I didn't mean to inmply that we shouldn't ask questions - becasue that IS how we learn. It was just my opionion that some of the comments or questions made it seem like the keepres weren't keeping an ey on the kats. I'm sorry if I offended anyone - that was not my intention at all. An example would be asking if they were going to be fed - they are always fed! The times sometimes vary but even the Chef to the Meerkats has assured everyone that they get plenty of food. And, I, too, am one of the "freaks" as I watch these guys before I leave for work and then plan my Friday night around being home at 8:30PM to watch Meerkat Manor.

It's hard for me to watch MM because I can;t bear to see them die. When Season 4 of MM began this year the Friends of the Kalahari Meerkat Project website had some updated posts, and they reported that Rocket Dog had been hit by a car while crossing a road. The latest episode of MM shows that she has had her pups. FKMP is no longer giving updated reports on any of the meerkat groups being shown on MM due to information being posted before episodes are shown. The site says any more informtion will be posted after MM Season 4 airs. I cried when Flower died, sobbed when Mozart died and did the same with the news of Rocket Dog. Still a great series to watch, but so difficult to lose them.
