alltel and verizon share towers all throughout America and have for years. So basically if you are an Alltel phone user and can't get a signal on Alltel towers then the Verizon towers kick in and vice versa. Both should offer the exact same coverage. The only difference is the equipment/phones you can get.

Well now Alltell can access all Verison cells, and vice versa -- it does not matter except who get the better deal.

Alltel offeres 5-10-20 free non network in-out calls as network calls. Verwion recently allows 10.

I use altell with 21 free numbers out of network. Network now includes all of verison so in a way I never go over my minutes -- and have redueced them from 2000/month to 1100 / month saving all kinds of money. Alltel allowes one to change plans when ever with a chang in contract duration.

The advice that comes from Az is the best to take. How would you know what service will work in Globe, If your from Ohio, Wyoming or someother state. I have had only Verizon since 2002. I have ALWAYS had great service. If you have gotten crappy customer service from them did you ever think that you may have been crappy to them that kind of attitude usually rubs off onto others!! I recently needed to update software on my phone and instead of making me drive to Mesa the just sent me a new phone. If you are having crappy service try dialing *228 it updates your roaming and programming. The Alltel office in Globe can't even help their customer adequately since Verizon bought out most of Alltel's customers, EXCEPT for Globe's customers. If anyone in Globe needs service they have to drive to like chandler or Casa Grande(can't remember which one exactly).
I am deffinately for VERIZON!!

I think it depends on where you live. If you live in a small town, like where I live, go with whatever everybody else has because you will be able to call them for free. Here where I live everybody has Alltel so I got Alltel. But you live in a big city I would say just go with the company with the best phones. IDK just my opinion.
Verizon didn't buy all the Alltels in my area we still have it. AT&T is supposed to buy the rest.

Verizon did not buy out all Alltels just the majority of them. Our Alltel is still owned by Alltel. Limits which stores I can go to if I have a problem.

My in-laws live in the Little Belt Mountain in Central Montana. Cell phone reception at their place has never been good, if available at all. They have tried a satellite phone but have had lot of problems with reception due to a mountain blocking their southern exposure. Recently they purchased some sort of signal booster and a cell phone from Verizon. The booster is NOT Verizon's. It works sometimes, but is not reliable. Calls coming in go to voice mail, but they are unable to retrieve those messages or call out. Several Attel customers were at their place over Thanksgiving, and tried their phones with the booster. All the Alltel phones worked! They would like to try Alltel but are concerned because they have signed a contract with Verizon. It would seem to me that if service is poor, the contract should be null and void. How much hassle should they expect from Verizon if they wanted out? They are an older couple, scared to death of technology, and also stuggle with hearing loss. Anyone have a thought on this? They need a phone that works! They are 60 miles from the nearest medical facility on gravel roads. Their kids are very concerned. Thank you.

i have used verison for several years now and i believe it is the best to go with. I travel alot and i never seem to have a problem with my calls or anything for that matter. They are friendly and most of all have a better phone selection compared to alltel

Verizon is way better than Alltel since for one Alltel is the one that had to merge with Verizon to begin with and also Verizon is what mostly everyone I know is on and I am still having problems with Alltel!

Wait till after Jan. 01 2010 to see if AT&T doesen't take over Alltel. Personally Alltel for me has been good for what I need it for (phone calls) and is much cheaper but don't know what AT&T is going to charge once they take over.
