If you're buying them for $5 each from China sure it's is too windy for turbines, they would burn up under the load.

Black Mountain, Maine is fairly near Mt. Washington, New Hampshire, where some of the worst weather in the world occurs. The intersection of 3 major weather influences coincide over Mt. Washington, sometimes bringing winds of 200 MPH. If Black Mountain gets any fallout from Mt. Washington, then the most stout wind turbines in the world will have to be prepared for the area.

Airplane propellers attached to generators would do the trick.

Exactly. Al Gore said in an interview we should not depend on foreign oil. then talks about a wind farm in Texas. The turbines built by China. so we trade one foreign source for another?

"Ugly" should be be acceptable as a reason to not have wind turbines anywhere.

If there was an environmental threat yeah that could be a reason but ugly?

No.

Tell those pampered snobs to go to hell and put up the turbines.

Build our own turbines.

I could do it out of a well stocked junkyard so you know resident corporate and governmental interests here in the US could do it.

If it is the ugly factor, then I hope they realize the ugly factor of the mercury in the soil they get built up from all those coal fired plants, it blows right over them from across the country. other then that I am sure that technology will catch up, and oh yea, bearings are replaceable. I thought that was called maintence.
