The best thing members can do is get online and research the future of nuclear plants and the most cost effective locations to produce UF6. You will find the customers are oversees, the raw materials are oversees and all future growth is oversees. Foreign countries will welcome a new plant and business opportunity. While no one likes to take a pay cut, at some point you have to realize you may be in a industry or business that just cannot be competitive. If you need examples of industries that moved oversees: Phones, TV's most electronics, virtually every household appliance, Fabrics, the list goes on. All companies have shareholders who expect profits, thats why they are in business. Fact, many of those shareholders are former hourly union employee retirees! Take a look of the investment fund companies (holding retiree savings) invested in Honeywell. Shouldnt these people expect the company to make decisions that will keep their investments secure? Think before you vote! Good Luck!

Apparently we posted at the exact same time. haha I didn't see your second post. Also, gotta agree with the OP about some things. Factory and plant workers need to realize what it's coming down to and that is building factories overseas is a lot cheaper and the labor is a lot cheaper. Some factory workers seem to think they are owed $25/hr. for work that isn't dangerous or hard but because they are a "factory worker" their job is automatically labeled as such. Companies would save a lot of money by using cheap labor in other countries. Sure it's taking away American jobs but if a person in China is willing to do the work for a LOT less money than an American worker, can you really blame the company for wanting to close down a plant or factory?

Not at all cost effective to close down the Metropolis site. Clean up costs for shutting down a nuclear facility are staggering. Most of the business (UF6 customers) is still in U.S. , not to mention the cost, logistics, and regulation of shipping the materials overseas is going to become more and more prohibitive, especially in light of heightened international security fears.there is so much business here that many old mines are being reopened in the states, plus new ones being opened. Growth in the industry here is rapidly approaching exponential. Like it or not, the Honeywell Metropolis site is going to be here for a long, long time.

USW 7-669: Keeping salaried employees wives from being lonely since June 28, 2010 Innuendo, name calling & the big inflatable rat do nothing for your cause, say nothing good about your character collectively or individually. Trade unions are the reason the auto companies went bankrupt. Double digit unemployment and the union is striking. Your wages are way above average for this area, you want more and minimum wage folks on welfare . Don't think that's going to win you much support. Be glad you have a job with such benefits. As far as your healthcare package goes, Obama just took care of that for you.

They are locked out, by the company. The union was still reporting to work, around the clock ready to run the plant while negotiations continued. The company pulled the trigger, not the union.

Sara, do you know what UF6 is? You say the job isn't dangerous, I think you need to do your research before you post. People may not realize this is the only plant in the USA that does what they do. In addition, the plant was placed on heightened security ever since 911. Do your homework.

Yes, I know what UF6 is, thanks. I was not talking about Honeywell employees or the Honeywell situation, I was talking about factory workers IN GENERAL. Not every factory job is dangerous.
