The Republicans now have a majority on the county board of commissioners; Jason and Weber.

Also, that would be the Massac County Treasurer's Office, not the Metropolis treasurer's office.

Democrat precinct committeman should have been the ones that pick who gets the job, an the commissioners approve the appointment is the way it works an I don't think Weber was in office yet an was told Jason voted no.

Your spelling and grammar are atrocious (look it up, I'm sure you don't know what it means). You are running somebody down the road for what reason? What have they done to you? Better question, what do you do for a living? Maybe you are the one who should get a real job. The younger people don't want that job, or any other job working for the city making chump change, while having to constantly be bashed by uneducated, ill-informed, misfits like yourself. Do you pay taxes? Are you on welfare, unemployment, food stamps, obamaphone, etc. If so, you are the leech. Our town is made up of many like you, the takers, who constantly try to run the makers down the road. If you don't like it here and the way things are done, specifically with who is going to be the next treasurer, pack your lunch pail and sack of nickels and get the "f" out of our town. Trust me, you won't be missed!

You talk about ill-informed while spewing misinformation. Tea party retardicans keep bringing up "Obamaphone's". That's a program started by the Republican god Ronald Reagan in 1984. There are no free phone's, only discounted service. They still have to pay.
Do you believe farmers are "makers"? Crop subsidies would make them "takers" by your definition.

Actually, it was the Bush administration who started it with land lines, the only phone lines at the time, which were necessary at the time in case of emergency. Now it has gone to cell phones, which are given away free, with text messages as well, which is not necessary. If they need phone access, give them a free land line with no long distance, simple. The program includes so many monthly texts and 250 free monthly minutes. You can google it to find out for yourself, it's quite simple to figure out on your own instead of spouting talking points you know nothing about.

I'll make it easier for you, since I'm sure you are used to people having to make your way in life for you. Check this link out, not just you, everybody that reads this..... http://obamaphone.net/

Farmers do get tons of subsidies, but they also work hard, something that most of the people that post on this site and constantly bitch and moan in this town know nothing about. You can cherry pick anything you wish, that is your right as an American, but you know deep down what I meant and what I was getting at. Nowhere in any of my prior post was anything politically motivated or negatively spoken about any political party. You brought that up, which shows who you are, what you believe in, the name calling (retardicans, your word), and further proves you are probably one of the very people I was describing. Kudos on proving my point. No need to call you any names, the only thing I need to do is work harder and make more money so it can be funneled down the trough to leeches like yourself. Good day, and furthermore, when you see someone in our town that actually pays taxes, go up to them, shake their hand, and remember not to bite the hand that feeds you!

The commissioners were advised by the States Attorney Not to vote because it is not known that this is even legal! And it's funny that Billy Hillebrands statement in the paper says no one else was interested in the job when others had come forward at the commissioners meeting the week prior? That's exactly why he's no longer in office! Don't let the door hit ya

It was wrong! It was wrong! It was wrong. And we all know it. This is Billy's final decision and he was pissed-off because he didn't get re-elected so he got his drinking buddy, from the Elks, an elected position job. When I read that in the Planet it just affirmed how, to me, how messed up this town really is. The paper also said that a woman that has worked in that office for 13 years wanted the job but wasn't even considered. If someone knows the ins and outs of that office, it would be her. We all know the only reason she didn't get that job is because she wasn't 'connected'. If we don't do something about the favoritism and nepotism here, we will never move ahead. It's a conflicting position for Ranady, since he is also the treasurer for the Chamber of Commerce in Metropolis. Do we need one person controlling the finances of both the county and the city. I'm not saying he's crooked or dishonest but we need to have separate people for security reasons. If everybody was honest and a stand-up person, we wouldn't need a police force.

why doesnt someone step up and ask the democratic party leader, Who she nominated for the position? you might be surprised where that nomination came from. And then your threory of misleadings and favotism will be shot to hell. Yeah it's a known fact who the democratic party leader nominated. That was stupid in its self and it was only because they were bitter about Billy not getting re elected! It's pretty bad when there are even really pissed off republicans who think the lady who had 13 years experience in that office should have got the job! But sounds like they will have a lawsuit on their hands...

I thought John Barr was the Democratic party leader. You said "she". I was told Larry Douglas was the leader and then he gave it to Barr. Is there someone else pulling the strings?

Please enlighten us all what the lawsuit would be for or why it would be filed, as well as who would be paying for this. It better not be the taxpayers money going towards this nonsense. If private citizens want to waste their own money on a frivolous lawsuit, by all means, go ahead and waste away, it's their right to spend their own money how they wish. If I find out the city or county is using taxpayer money for this lawsuit, this private citizen will be putting my own money up for a counter suit for wasteful spending on a frivolous lawsuit. We already wasted countless amounts fighting the pony when our leaders allowed it to set up shop in Metro in the first place. No more wasteful spending, get it!
