What happened to all the money the Chelmsford Elks got from the insurance company from their "fire". Same old same old where did the money go that's what the members should be asking.

Their former building was very old, and its worth probably doesn't come close to the replacement cost.
You should consider everything before you make a negative, accusing post.

If Finest Builders is building it, it is sure to cost over 2 mil. ROBBERS.

I can imagine what the dentist paid for them to reconstruct his building across the street in the center. It's only been a year & fINEST is still working their.

The current lodge at the back is just fine- no need for 2 million cost. they dont have the membership anymore.

Just a way for those in charge to grab some money like they did before. Like a pig roast is going to bring in mucho dollars from the same 10 people.

Why are you so mad? It is a laua and should be a lot of fun. It is not a tax or fee increase, it is just a party to raise money, lighten up.

It is true that they don't need a big building anymore the membership is just not there. I have a hard time giving anything to the Elks after hearing about all the money that was stolen.

The old hall was very useful, look at Billerica, still very busy. They really need to start doing positive community events as opposed to being a watering hole for few old dudes......

If Elks membership is declining, can't be a bad thing. After all, that many fewer drunks driving on our local roads.

Yeah the old building "caught fire" on the day the Elks was going to get audited. What a shame all the paperwork and computer drives burned up. Did they ever get the money out of the safe or did that disappear.

What about the fact that the Elks does more community service than all other organizations combined?
Did you forget about that?

The Elks does community service on a local, state and national level.
$6 million annually in scholarships-more than the federal government.
Dictionaries to 3rd graders-over 20 thousand state wide.
Doantions of money and personal care items to veterans, and also visitations at the Bedford VA hospital.
I could go on, but every dollar the Elks makes after expenses goes to help the community.
If it were just a "watering hole" I certainly wouldn't be a member.
please know the facts before you make a comment.

If you still are deluded and believe that the Elks do nothing for the community, log onto www.elks.org to see all of the great things that Elks are doing nationwide.
Millions of hours of community service donated, all for no pay whatsoever.
Why are you so bitter, anyway?
I'm sure the Elks could find you a worthy project to channel your energies.
