Motorists Sue Over Jefferson Parish Traffic Cameras

Just rec'd a photo red light enforcement program notice of violation from Jefferson Parish. I am not from that area and found it very difficult to decifer and get into the correct lane to turn left from Veterans to Clearview (heading South). I finally managed to find the correct lane and was trying to locate the correct intersection in which to turn. When I looked at the light.....there was no color. If you're not dead straight with the light...you can't see a color. I asked my husband what color the light was and he said that he couldn't see a color either. I responded, what do I do. He said, you can't just sit in the intersection, just go... and I did. My car was clearly in front of the stop line and turned on an angle when they said the light was red. From there camera angle....the light is read, but the picture of my venhicle you and see the entire drivers side... What a rip off. Don't know if there's a chance on an appeal, but I can't let something go when I feel I am not wrong!

I tried to post in caps but it wont allow. They dont want you bitch to stick out. My friend timed the caution light and it took 3 seconds before it turned to red. I think that the timers have been adjusted to benefit the redlight photo company that is not even in Jefferson Parish. The sheriffs dept does not even get that much from each ticket but if you look at how many people are falsely getting ticketed it must be paying off for them. I used to respect the Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office but they have stooped to an all time low. I guess the next best thing is to take off your license plate when traveling in the parish. I would rather be pulled over and questioned about my plate than be falsely having to pay red light ripoffs!!!

I will not EVER get anouther ticket from a camera because I will stay completly out of Jefferson Parish. All we can do is vote with our expense account. next time you might consider spending money in Jefferson Parish rember this ticket and go somewhere else.

?????? Is this going to be on my record????? Just because it was my car, doesn't mean I was driving it???? I can understand the good that could come out of using this, but don't miss use it Jefferson Parish.Use it to help you catch a violation not do the work for you. I would love to see how mean of you have past a red light. There are good people out there that tend to make mistakes. This will be my first ticket I know without a doubt that I am a good driving. What about the murders and drug deals are they also catch on tape????? OR ISN'T BECAUSE YALL WAIST OUR MONEY ON THIS INSTEAD OF BEING OUT THERE ON THE STREET CATCHING THE REAL BAD GUY. ALL THESE CARS THAT HAVE BEEN TICKETED BY MAIL COULD HAVE BEEN MAJOR DRUG BUST BUT INSTEAD YALL RATHER GET A COMPUTER TO DO YALL WORK. well i am a former member of the united stated air force i served honorably and proudly for 9 years. I was in iraq for 8 months and seen many young men loose there lives way too soon if only the military was as smart as or great parish elected officials and sent cameras with no brains to fight the war. Cameras that only see the black and white of the law man they can protect us. I think not no i know not stop being lazy Mr. JP and put the real breathing cops out there to enforce the law not a camera. Someone to make a judgment call because we all know the cops are not there when you need them they don't keep us safe in this war zone i have come home too. Now i have to pay because some camera has judged me ... o that's right i can go in front of a judge and then have to pay more and on top of that watch my insurance go up as well. Wow i am glad i fought for my country and watch my brothers die to come home and be treated like this.At least over in the sand box we new who the bad guys are here they don't even have the guts to print there name on the ticket i am talking to you Mr. badge number 116090. This issue has rubbed me the wrong way so bad i am considering going out of state to pursue my GI bill benefits. I figure that all the JPs under stand is money hit them where it hurts.No more tax dollars from this guy no more BS fines from me.

My name is Lynell,I live in Reserve La, I recieved a traffic ticket too,a single mother of eight,no apparent income,but the truth of the matter is I did indeed prceed to beat a caution light and by the time I was under the light it was already red(my fault)and then I got the ticket in someone else's car,now he has to pay the cost of the ticket $110. I Thank GOD for favor because if it were anyone else I would have to pay it myself,this has taught me a good lesson always take caution when approching a traffic sign because I could have caused a terrible car accident!!!!

I believe there maybe a picture of the person driving the car. Definitely check for that and get from the hotel to see if they keep records of when a car is valet parked.

BOYCOTT STORES LOCATED NEAR TRAFFIC CAMERAS! I have decided to STAY OFF VETERANS BLVD period- that means I will NOT BE SHOPPING/DINING AT SOME OF MY PREVIOUS FAVORITES: Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Zuppardo's & TJ MAXX, Cheesecake Bistro, Semolina, Mr. Ed's Serrano's & Acme Oyster House.
After getting two of these tickets for short yellow lights, I'm done.
Any savings I would get from shopping in Met. Discount stores has been negated by the price of the two tickets. My entire extended family is now shopping in Kenner and staying out of Met. If and when Kenner installs such cameras, I
will avoid those areas also.

OK, like every one else I got a ticket making a right hand turn, and the light went from green to red. If it did go to yellow it was no time.

We tried to get the video to work in order to see the actual footage but could not get it to work.(GO FIGURE) We went to city hall to contest the ticket and little dweebe showed the video and clearly the yellow was not there.

Has any one gone to court and won on this.

OK, All of us are SCREWED by the system. So what do we do about it. Is there an attorney out there willing to do a class action in New Orleans.

I'm from Texas and the same thing happened to me...questioned myself whether I should go through a YELLOW light or not(which from what I remember means "PROCEED WITH CAUTION". Guess from the time it took for me to look up at the light and back down to turn it turned red. They may as well get rid of the yellow light all together. Must be making alot of money from that.

not shopping online these days. Just because of the
cameras.

The reason the Govt. rips off the publis in LA is because the people of LA are the most uneducated people in America. The Red Light Cams are just the latest scam. Other states without a drop of oil or a major port don't have high fees on everything under the sun. The state and Parish know that the people of LA are a bunch of Dim Wit Morons, so they give them the shaft that they deserve. Other states don't have the ridiculous insurance rates that LA does, because people in other states aren't always looking to sue anybody and anything they can.
Corporate 'Headhunters' come here looking for a place to build a factory and once they get a load of how sloppy and lazy the people of LA are, they just go to Miss or AL and open an assembly plant with 28 or 30 dollar an hour jobs.The pathetic people of LA are still holding their hands out for more Katrina Money after the Taxpayers of America have already given them 85 Billion.
