Well sorry to the families but this is a classic example of the kids getting everything they want from mommy and daddy. They dont get what the want and its the end of the world. Ruidoso is small community and it is a big impact but forget focusing on helping to cope with it...figure out why its happening and structure measures to curb the suicides.

I've driven through there several times, it is very secluded. Shocking to hear that such a beautiful place has people living with there that much emotional distress to take ones life.

To students that know those that gave up on life too soon and to teachers struggling with how to keep this from taking more young lives please check out this documentary, free to watch on line
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/cryforhelp/episodes/t...
There are many resources for school employees to use and links to hotlines for kids and parents. The toll on this area does not need to grow.

only two died on the reservation, so the police chief needs to make sure he has his facts streight, along with the paper reporting this, before he opens his mouth. Our town is fuled with rumors right now, and him speaking ot of turn doesnt help. Everyone please remember that just because you read it in your news paper, it does not mean it is true.

Wow... your Oregon ignorance is really showing through. Put on your burks, go down to the corner dealer and get your "under an ounce personal use" bag of weed, get your cousin high so you can take advantage of her before she has to go back to fourth period geography class, then veg out in front of Northern Exposure re-runs. You apperently know nothing about New Mexico, its people, or its past, except for what you might have seen on FOX NEWS, or what your once radical hippy, BMW yuppie parents have told you. Sober up, quit nailing the kids, trade in your mountain bike for a car and come and see our state for yourself.(yes there is weed here too, so you wont go into DT's)

You wouldn't be so stupid if you ever visited the rez and its schools and the environs in which these kids lived... their life is not at all what you so incorrectly assume...that these are spoiled kids... get better info or shut up.

It's a reservation based problem basically, and the people live sometimes in weird circumstances in the midst of natural beauty...

Show some humanity people. Don't just spew to get a rise out out others. I just feel sorry for you arrogant, worthless, heartless people.

The kids up there have nothing to do but get into trouble and do drugs, which leads to depression, which leads to jailtime or worse. I've known teens from Ruidoso and all they wanted to do was drink and score some drugs. Oh, and they took great pleasure in making fun of the Natives that got wasted with them...peer pressure and bullying at its finest.

First people spout their mouths about THINGS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. Live in Ruidoso and tell me again that all there is is partying and drugs...yes there are some but there are kids that are doing well there. Families that thrive and even more than that what town does not have that? Please name one. How can you people turn the tragic loss of FOUR teenagers into a filthy discussion about the poor status of New Mexico. I say if you don't live here dont spout your mouth, your ignorance is epic. Lets focus on the issues people and finding a way to keep other teens from suicide!!!

I am so sorry to hear about these tragedies. I was born and raised in lincoln county and as a teen I delt with suicidal tendancies myself. Sometimes you just cant see there is still light in this world. All you see is darkness and death seems like the best way out. If you have never felt this way you have no idea what I am talking about and I hope you never do. But please if you have a friend, a cousin, a person you care about and they seem just listless, uncaring and self destructive please talk to them, let them know that we all are in this thing together, tell them about your bad times and how you got through it. You cant fix a temporary problem with a permanent solution.Help them get help. almost everyone who is in this state of mind sends warning signs that are really saying HELP ME I dont know whats wrong with me but I cant seem to help myself.

Everyone has a job.Teachers?.Parents? Family? Friends Neighbors? Church? Police? Where are you? Are all of you doing your job? Everyone needs each other. Something like this that happened makes you wonder about our lifestyles. I personally think Mothers should stay home and be mothers so fathers can be fathers. It's okay for your children to be home in home environments. Stop spending so much money on STUFF that is artificial in life. LOVE is free.A million dollar home and cars are loved more than familys.

Obviously several people are missing the point of this whole story which is the tragic loss of life. Regardless of what the circumstances were surrounding each death, it is alarming to see that yet again kids have come to the point of helplessness, hopelessness and such despair that they want to end their lives. I am not blaming the parents, enviroment or economic status because unless you know the warning signs, it is only after the deed is done that you become aware of the crisis. Don't blame the parents, community, schools or even the victims for the outcome, there is really no one factor or person responsible. Instead take the time to be vigilant, educate yourselves on the warning signs, be interested in the daily on-goings of your kids, show them they are valued and talk to them or at least show thm that there are options if they don't want to talk to you. My sincerest condolences to the families, friends and the community, I have lost co-workers, family, and friends to suicide so I know the heartache and self doubt you all must be feeling. SUICIDE IS A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO A TEMPORARY PROBLEM, make sure your kids and loved ones understand that, you may just save a life.

One other thing, to the families and friends of these victims, ignore the ignorance and hatered that may be spewed by those who seek to antagonize or belittle for they know nothing. There is an old spanish saying that when loosely translated says " Don't spit up in the air and look up cause it will only hit you in the face." Which means be careful of what you say or wish on others cause it can and might come back to kick you in the butt.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
