Albertsons' store closings to include 8 Florida locations

I was one of the employees affected by those closures I worked at the Boynton Beach Albertsons for 6 months just to hear that it was closing. I was worried about whether I'd keep my job but luckly they moved me to a different store now. Its a shame that store closed I liked alot of the people there and even today I get some of our old customers where I am now . They always ask me why did they close that store and I just tell them it was very slow and didnt make enough money.I've been with Albertsons for nearly 2 years now and I still miss some of my old co workers. Im sure alot of people lost their jobs too I also heard during the time they were closing all these stores that they put a hault on all hiring til they moved all these associates to different stores. I loved that store and I will miss it very much ;(

so sad to hear ..more proff that our economy is in such bad shape. i liked this stores buy one get one free meat sales and 10 for 10...it wasn't a fancy over priced store like Publix..just your family well priced store. This is frightening, more proof that we are in such bad shape!!

Albertsons is closing all of their stores soon, since they have poor management. That is the main reason is management, starts from the top and works its way down. If you shop in Broward then there is Penn Dutch in Hollywood and Margate that has great prices on everything. Good luck to all and wish everyone the best on finding new work. All will work out for everyone, just keep your head up and never give up.

albertsons is sebring fla ranked top 10 in grocery sales only store in a 65 mile radious from another albertsons store is doing well and they decided to sale to publix we do not need any more publix stores in highland county fla why do we need 4 publix stores in highlands county fla
all 4 stores are only 5 to 10 miles apart also we now have 2 superwalmarts in this county waste of money for walmart to have 2 stores frist the new one in avon park is a bad location they should have bulit it in sebring on state rd 66 and us 27 people in lake placid still have to drive state road 66 and us 27 is in the middele of the county publix should close the avon park store and relocate to the old albertson bulding

yeah right doeing so bad alot of layoff in fla people geting hours cut parttimers takeing a pay cut down form 35 hrs week to 5 to 15 hrs per week

In California, where I lived for 18 years, Albertsons, who acquired a grocery store chain called bought Lucky's, was as overpriced as Publix is here in FL. Shop at Sam's or Costco and really save money. To he*l will all grocery store chains; they're all overpriced Seven-Elevens.

Publix is the best. They are always consistent. That is why they are opening so many new stores. They are doing everthing right. They treat the employees great and most of all they really care about the customers. I will pay a little more because I get such great service and the stores are always clean and organized. I wont shop anywhere else!!!

Publix is so much better then Albertson witch has over priced items and much of there 10 for 10 deals are a rip of in witch you have to buy all 10 items to get the deal unlike at Publix were you can buy one and still get the deal. Publix is much better.

no felipe, I shop at albertsons every week and you can purchase one 10 for 10 item at just one dollar you do not have to purchase all 10

It is sad to hear about Albertsons sinking but ....still most of the stores are pretty good....WHAT PUBIX TREAT THERE EMPLOYEES GREAT BULL CRAP,i have met many former Employees from pubix and they all pretty much say the same thing they treated them like Trash.rushed them pushed them. Sorry, but as far as employee treatment goes, Publix wins hands down. I used to work for Albertson's, and my husband works for Publix. I have over 17 years experience working for supermarkets in NJ. And I have to say that Albertson's is the most screwed up company I have ever seen. I had to leave because I couldn't stand to work for a company so unbelievably horrible. So outrageously priced, they are horrible to their employees, they have ALOT of outdated products, so check all dates at Albertson's. They have employees that would have a 30 minutes commute to work. They would punch in, go to their dept, and be told to go home, we don't need you today. I'm sorry, you have all people's cell phone #'s and can call every # possible when you need them to come in, but to save them a drive, you can't call them? ridiculous. Publix goes above and beyond for their employees. My husband is so happy there. I hear All Albertson's are pulling out of Florida. Good riddance!! I would just feel bad for the employees that lose their jobs.

Where did you hear that they are leaving Florida?

I keep hearing that is going to happen after September when the store directors contracts are up.. for those who don't know All the remaining store directors got a 1 year contract with a nice bonus if they stayed after the big sale to Publix last year that contract was made cause Albertsons didn't want directors jumping ship after the sale.. and its up in September

by the way Albertson's do treat people like Crap there's people there working 17 hours in 5 days full-time people working 32 hours with extra work you have to do stuff that in other company's it takes 2 or 3 people to do. and yes they sale out of date product to make the numbers and gross profit they are bad in the meat department re-wrapping out of date meat grinding out date meat and cutting out of date meat the Butcher-block does the same thing with fish and shrimp the Deli wow let me put it this way every day someone brings chicken back because they got sick the Bakery is the only department that is worth buying from

My husband's store manager at Publix basically said the same as you said about the one year contract after the Publix sale. He said that part of the deal with Publix was that Albertson's was leaving FL. I feel bad for those that will eventually lose their jobs. Since my last post, at least 3 of my friends that were "full time" have now lost their health benefits because Albertson's cut their hours so badly. These are people with families. And all of the things you said about meat, seafood and deli??? 200% true!! Happened all of the time in our store. I would NEVER shop there even when I worked there. You couldn't trust anything. Do you work for them? Like I said before, in all of my years in supermarkets, I have never seen such a poorly run operation than Albertson's. They are the absolute worse!!

from what people are saying Albertson's will close next some stores around Central FL, like kissimmee, Semoran,castleberry before an Unknown Buyer takes over the remaining stores in FL by the end of the year. apparently the Buyer doesn't want any store that makes less than 300k a week Albertson's will eliminate the week stores to close the deal .

Like I said that's what people are saying, I have no proof of this but If you think about it makes sense.

Down here, it seems like when the dust settles, it will be Publix, Big Target, Big Walmart, and a dying WinnDixie.......I avoid walmart in protest to the company heavily selling us chinese products. I like big target, but Publix is just the best, by alot......

Had a chance to shop an Albertson's in New Mexico. I walked right out of the store because of the odors and the dirty conditions I saw everywhere. We don't have an Albertson's here in NE Ohio and from what I experienced in their store in New Mexico, thank goodness. The people I was visiting said that was the best one of the three in their town. Yikes!
