Tyngsboro center plan takes shape, slowly

Before the Shur-Fine market was purchased by the town in May 2007, debate brewed over how it fit into the town's future.

How about building a new bridge so we can get across the river to enjoy your beautiful new town center.

Note that none of the other people posting live in Tyngsboro. How about the fact that the Shurfine was previously sold for just under 600K 2 years prior and was on the verge of forclosure so our town goes in and offers 1.1 Million... hmmm who is the brain behind that one.... how about we demo it and put a play ground, right in the middle of all that traffic.... there is no good solution.. we are buying land for the sake of it... we could have used the 1.1 Million to ofset the 1.2 million our schools are short... now there is an idea!!!!

Two things on your post,
1. The towns listed under usernames are not indicative of where they live, mine says Manchester NH and I live in Lowell. Why it says that is an indicator that this website does not function right.
2. I work in Tyngsboro and even if I did not, if I want to comment on this topic I will. Who gives a flying leap where someone lives.
Flame on I do not give a F***. The bridge should be that town's only priority.

I live in Tyngsboro and if I did not have two kids in high school I would have moved by now. The town is one of the worst is the local area. The bridge is a joke, the school dept is a mess all because the dopes that sit on the board are all a mess!!! The town needs some serious outside help!!

And yes bring back Mathews, that was a nice place and the owner was very good the town! Just because some ugly house wife caught her husband there and she cried loud enough they shut them down, now it a sight for a dump!!!

Interesting - Mathews, was a nice place but the town is a mess. So instead of trying to do something constructive to make our town better, you sat at Mathews and drank while watching women dance naked. Sad, sad, sad...

...and just about all of that is the direct fault of the town making the decisions they have made over the years, and now they regret it. Why did we build a whole new government "center" in the woods in the middle of nowhere, and then all of a sudden care that the "historic" town center is empty? Last time we had this thread, I suggested we simply disband the town and split it amoungst its neighbors, and I still don't think it's a bad idea.

THE LAST THING WE NEED IN TOWN IS A PARK. TOO MANY OTHER THINGS NEED MORE ATTENTION. WE HAVE A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO DO WHAT THEY WANT. NEVER MIND HAVING A VOTE AT A TOWN MEETING. HARDLY ANYONE GOES. PUT ON BALLOT AT VOTING TIME WHERE PEOPLE DO SHOW UP AND VOTE. MAYBE THEN WE WOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP OUR TEACHERS AND HAVE MONEY FOR ROADS, ETC. PEOPLE CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THE REASONING BEHIND BUYING SUREFINE AND THE CAMPGROUND. THE TOWN IS IN DIRE STRAIGHTS AND THAT MONEY COULD HAVE BEEN USED ELSEWHERE AT A TIME WHEN THE ECONOMY IS SO LOW.

I can't believe people still don't understand how things work. I don't like that we bought the Sure Fine, but the money used to buy it was CPA funds and could never be used to help the schools or the town.

The bridge is slated to be fixed, paid for by the state, the town has no pull to get it fixed any time sooner, don't you think they would if they could?
Yes, the pace is painfully slow, but it will eventually get done.

Also,I believe your address listed is based on your internet provider and your current location.

Maybe at first glance but I don't think it would have been possible and I don't think it should be done even if it were possible.

Since it's on a state highway I strongly disagree.

...someone from FLINT POND RE had an idea that this was going to happen. Not bad... being paid 600K over assessment.
1) Either the property was way under assessed - probably not. OR
2) The town paid WAY too much.
Either way... the TOWN MESSED UP.
Oh don't worry though, we used CPA funds. Well CPA funds come from taxes - either town or state.
I just can't wait to see the wonderful thriving town center... ha ha ha
