How can you tell if a Hoosier style cabinet is in fact a cabinet made by the Hoosier company??
If you purchase the Hoosier Cabinets book by Philip D Kennedy, I am sure you will be able to identify what year and model of Hoosier you have. I found it invaluable and am happy to report I have an original 1930 Standard No 3043. The picture is a dead ringer for my absolutely complete solid oak Hoosier........good luck

I have a Hoosier cabinet from 1912. It has almost a complete set of blue glass. I have been searching for two pieces that I have been missing for a long time. I have seen the pieces in clear glass only. I need a small spice/salt/pepper jar. It is about 4" tall and has a raised ring around the middle to hold it in a wire rack. I am, also, looking to the coffee jar. It has the word COFFEE as part of the glass. Both items have silver color, metal, screw on lids. I would appreciate any help in finding either of these items. Oh, I almost forgot. Does anyone know where to get a replacement clock for the cabinets that have metal lined space for one?

Well, the 1/2 cir. is in the middle of the scrolly wood, it was red with black lines in it 3 and then one going across the middle of them, like and H only one more line, the tag on this says Memphis furn. co., we live in MO. the lines on the side of the sifter and the bottom are up and down black with a red line at the top. I saw some thing close on ebay, was not exactly like mine, this was a grandmas cab to a woman who is 70. So it has to be early 1900's.
has a sifter and now is completely redone and very, pretty. Just can find the decals for the cabinet.
I have my grandmother's old "hoosier" style cabinet. It was repainted years ago, but I remember it had red and black designs similar to what your's sounds like. Could you send me a picture of what your's looks like? I really want to repaint mine like it was originally.

I forgot to say that my grandmother's cabinet probably also came from Memphis. That's where I grew up and she lived a few hours away in Mississippi.

Do you have pictures? It sounds so much like I remember what my grandmother's cabinet originally looked like. It was painted over years ago. I have it now and would love to repaint it as it was originally but can't remember exactly what it looked like. I grew up in Memphis and my grandmother lived a couple of hours away in Mississippi. Her cabinet probably came from the Memphis area too.

I have my 1930 Hoosier (built by the Hoosier Co.) about 90% restored. The original exterior was a sprayed white enamel over beautiful solid oak. I am staining the exterior and will paint the interior an off white. My question is, now that I have cleaned the side brackets that support the upper cabinet, what color would be appropriate for them. The Porclean counter top is pure white with flecked blue and white edges. Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Help, I am in the middle of refinishing a 1930 actual Hoosier cabinet. The whole exterior is oak and I plan to stain and finish it. However the interior was painted off-white, which I plan to do again. My question is, with the stained wood exterior, what can I do with the stripped and cleaned side brackets. They were originally white, but if original Hoosiers were not white, what finish was on the metal brackets. My Hoosier has every piece that came with it from the factory and I am so proud of it. I'll look very nice in my living room or den.

I believe Montgomery Ward sold Sellers brand in the hoosier style, but they also had their own cabinet line in metal.

I am trying to help my brother find information on his Hoosier style cabinet. The bottom of the cabinet has a slanted sliding door with a handle in the middle and a latch on top. The door slides out of the cabinet, and has a wooden cover plate that swivels to cover the door when it is pushed into the cabinet. It is not a cutting/bread board, and it sits at an angle when pulled out. I will try to post pictures.
Thanks, Ellen
