Enough already... Very silly solution to a very serious problem. Why put an extra tax on a whopper junior? I have a better idea. Lets put an extra tax anyone elected to public office. That will make as much sense as the whopper tax.

Taxes like this suck, its just another way to soak the hard working people of Long Island. I mean Charles Wang isn't going to All-American Burger. Not that he doesn't work hard. PS Charles please don't move the Islanders

No problem here. Seems like a fair tax. If I don't eat it, I don't pay it.

Right, let's tax fast food and put another industry out of its misery. Folks, do you want to decide what you want to eat or do you want your government, by imposing taxes on your behavior, to do it for you? Instead of imposing more taxes, why doesn't our government do a better job with the money it already gets from us?

Well, if you've been to the beach lately, that is one that the state hasn't closed or the weather, then you will notice that Lawn Guylanders could do with a few less Whoppers and Big Macs. However, this is just another scheme by Suozzi to raise money. It's not bad enough that he has raised our property taxes 3 times, and I would bet that another one looms in the future because the idiots in this county are sure to re-elect him come Novmeber. It's just getting plain ridiculous though. I am not a fast-food junkie, but I do enjoy treating myself and my kids every now and then to these quick, unhealthy, but admittedly delicious meals (if you can call them that). I can't afford many pleasures or expensive vacations for them and believe me I make a decent living. It just seems that every time I turn around something else is being taxed around here. If I didn't love my job as much as I do, if my wife and I didn't have as many friends in the area as we do, and if my children weren't as well-established in the schools as they are, I would move from this place as quickly as I can. Long Island is a beautiful place to live and to recreate, but it is no longer a nice place to raise a family, nor an affordable one. Enough with the taxes already, Suozzi! We're not all as independantly wealthy as you and your family are. The fact of the matter is you can't fix Albany or Congress because you haven't fixed Nassau County yet! You just keep adding more and more band-aids to it and hoping the boo-boo will go away. Well, it hasn't, but maybe this November you will!

I doubt it will make people eat healthier. The cost of healthy foods (like fruit, vegetables, soy products) at the supermarket are still way more expensive than fast food. The tax is just going to make it cost more for the poor person who can't afford it to begin with. And if fast food is going to be subject to additional tax, alcohol and tobacco products should be right up there with it. What are these politicians going to do when they run out of things to tax?

IF PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO HAVE A DRINK OR SMOKE A CIGARETTE HAVE TO PAY TAXES ON SOMETHING THEY ENJOY WHY SHOULDNT THE JUNK FOOD JUNKIES BE INCLUDED IN THIS AS WELL? WHY JUST SINGLE OUT CERTAIN HABITS AND NOT OTHERS? A STEADY DIET OF JUNKFOOD IS JUST AS HARMFUL, IF NOT MORE SO TO ONES HEALTH AS ANY OTHER BAD HABIT AND SHOULD BE TREATED IN THE SAME MANNER.

Wow, stories about people doing 30 to 40 bags of heroin a day, and we're worried about the evil Big Mac? If you don't want to pay, don't buy it.

This is just a small sampling of what New Yorkers are to expect if Suozzi is elected Governor in the next election. Instead of being pro active and generating lost revenue in other more creative ways, (imposing heavier fines motorists who speed, drive recklessly, fail to signal changing lanes, idiots who use cell phones w/o the headset, and there are plenty of them, unlicensed, uninsured, unregistered etc, etc) he is taking the lazy way out by taxing the general publics fast food purchases. Suozzi is your typical taxaholic politician.

OK another squeeze on us all under the guise of health. Why not solve rthe problem,TAX newspapers a sales tax on the news industry it makes no attempt to collect their product leaving it to us to dispose of it. They report banning plastic bags and water bottles should have a deposit. My home delivery used about 600-700 plastic bags a year. Why cant the news industry pick up the waste, leave my choice of food alone, and stop lecturing us on our habits. I bet they dont campaign for this.

"Healthy Nassau".... what a laugh. Tom Suozzi doesn't care for any health in Nassau except the fiscal health. This is all about money. He'll do anything EXCEPT spend less. Typical Democrat.

I think it is GREAT! Nassau Democrats taxing lower income county residents that tend to frequent fast food establishments. Keep taxing your constituents! Tax cigarettes too! But don't come up to Great Neck and tax me!
