TRUCKERS' STORIES * USA - Long ride home even longer for many truck drivers

Dam shame, Its a F--ckED UP situation when a guy is gone months at atime and can't make enough money to feed his family and pay the bills.
I'm right there will him, as is many!
How long or what is it going to take to rally the masses to say, the hell with everything and just shutdown!
This guy wants 2 bucks a mile, dam where you finding that right now, thats pretty rare even in the best of times.
Many guys are loosing everything, I can't understand why a guy would keep working right to the poorhouse with out a fight, what ever happen to the die hard sprit of the AMERICAN TRUCKER

Sad. However in my opinion, as a business owner, I see a lot of this as being ill prepared. I shudder at the thought of those who buy a truck and a trailer then hit the road without a thought of what might get thrown their way. High fuel prices were in no way an overnight shock. This was foreseen and predicted, then slowly it happened. SOME companies prepared by increasing their rates and surcharges BEFORE it was $4.30 a gal. There is so much involved in this business, and those who enter do so at their own risk. Only the prepared will survive.

Yeah well it's easy to say that kind of crap there "to much", no one could have forecasted the fuel price spike and life has to go on regardless. If you're a driver than that's what you do - period. The fact of the matter is that the surcharges don't trickle down to the drivers and they still have to fuel their rigs as do I, either get off the sidelines and help or shut the f' up!
