I wish that this Jake's, and the other Jake's in the Coates / Rosemount area, would both reopen.

Hopefully people will wake up. The National chains are just ok. If you want REAL food eat at the smaller mom and pop operations.

It is sad a family owned business closed. However, Menomonie is not monopolized by big corporate family restaurant chains (besides fast food) and that is why so many residents go to Eau Claire and elsewhere to eat, taking their money out of Dunn County. Jake's was nice to eat at, but the food was only so-so. Feel sorry for the employees but Menomonie needs to wake up and have more than a couple of sit-down restaurants that people actually want to eat at.

Jake's is re-opening! Feb 2009. Two University of Wisconsin Stout graduates will be working their hardest to get everyone's favorite supper club up and running.

I miss Jakes -- and I live in Portland, Oregon !

Way back when, I'd get a snootful and then whizz a pint or two off the dock trying to kill the damn algae.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Aries

You're feeling practical and sensible today, so it's great for getting on with some of the Christmas preparations. The idea of saving money appeals to you now, and if you're browsing around the supermarket looking for festive food you might be so horrified by some of the prices that you decide to make your own instead. This will give you a real feeling of satisfaction.
