Holy Smokes! This is my sons first year playing Pop Warner and I must say I am not impressed! The first day of practice I was told we had like 5 days to sell crap and come up with money for a fundraiser. Then they make us buy a shirt for practice then a week later they handed out free practice jerseys?? Everything so half-assed. The picture were not on the day they were suppose to be. First game is in 3 days and my son only has his pants that he has to return at the end of the season. WTF are we paying for??$200 and everythng has to be returned at the end of the season. I understand the feild cost money, but not that much! They are freaking milking everybody for every red cent. Come on,, and get your shit toether!

After this season my son will be done with Pop Warner! He will be playing Jr. all american next year.

Average $$ Flag a football parent has spent..........350.00
Average$$ Tackle football parent has spent..........900.00

I want to know where all the money is going to.

We used to spend around $250.00 for each son to play one tournament. Usually 2 to 3 games depending how well your team was doing, and that was basketball! Then we paid $250.00 for a league that played around 8 games...2 months, usually 2 leagues and on top of that you paid for a gym for practice. And at the end you got to keep your shirt...Well worth the investments, it kept the boys off the streets, made new friends and they all played high school basketball. They now play in adult leagues and remember all the tournaments up and down the State. We spent a lot of time taking the boys to practice and games for many years. They were never going to be pros but it kept them and us busy as a family....We would surely do it again.

I would demand to know where teh dollars are going, this is a non profit and they have to disclose every dollar if you ask. Many other youth sports have become for profit businesses, especially the travel/club tournaments. But I certainly believe Pop Warner is a non profit.

When you look at all these other sports, Little League baseball/softball becomes a bargain. Most leagues only charge $140 and you get roughly 20 games and field practice time. This also includes most of the uniform.

One other thing as advice, if you want to fix it, join their board and fix it from within. These are volunteers, so sitting on the sidelines complaining will get nothing done.

That's why I love AYSO!$85 for registration, includes 10 games and playoffs, full uniform, and pictures. Equipment costs as low as $30 for cleats, shin guards, and a ball. Plus they get great cardio exercize!!! Can't beat that!

I agree with Peter North, my kids will NEVER participate in Pop Warner again. My first mistake was signing them up for Pop Warner instead of All American. The second was "VOLUNTEERING" to coach! I have a large family and one income household. It took planning ahead to add the expense of Pop Warner into our budget...or at least what we thought the expense would be.$325 registration for two kids. But that didn't include any equipment, so add to that $350 for a cheer uniform and $100 for cleats and other various football equipment. Then came the fundraisers,$160 for the mandatory fundraiser, plus we were REQUIRED to have fundraising all season. Opening day (2), candle sales, dinners, find sponsors, and keep going back to friends and relatives with the "gimmes". Then the coach stuff...the coach shirt was $30, CPR card $45, Background check $30, and driving to San Diego for training!!! OVER $1000!!! And, the yearbook they promised us...we didn't SELL enough pages to afford it. Our team party is next week but my kids won't get their trophies because I couldn't pull another $60 out of the air! So, of course, they will hold them hostage. What a sad ending for my kids...Everyone says such wonderful things about Pop Warner. They must not have played in Menifee.

I agree, we won't be doing Pop Warner again I had the same experience with the Wildomar group. The woman in charge of sign-ups was unbelievable snotty. It was one thing after another. I paid for yearbooks that I never got. We never got our trophies either. My emails to the person in charge went unanswered.

I had to pay the registration fee that didn't include all of the fundraisers that we had to do. First it was making enough money to give to the league, then we had to donate items for a donation basket that the money once again went to the league. Then we had to have a dinner that we had to donate money too. Also the practice shirts, which was a rip off since they only wore it for conditioning and then the team needs snacks, drinks and oranges. Also we received our jersey for the boys to keep 3 games before the end of the season. Come to find out that they got a discount and nothing was given back to us. Thank goodness this is my son's last year playing pop warner. I suggest we find out where all the money went and why we didn't get a discount on the fees. Do they know that we are in a recession and not all of us can afford to pay all of these things that we are expected to do and pay for. Also our schedules changed and the only thing we got out of it was my son playing football. He loves the sport and I can't disappoint him and not let him play because of these people who may be stealing money from the league. Menifee Pop Warner get a clue and help out the parents if you want more players to return to the league.
