He is alive and well and listening to the prayers. Paterson just got served again didn't he? |

Why not put it on the ballot in November for the citizens of New York State decide, like that, "of the People", type stuff?
I agree, that way the vote is either what the people want for or don't want. No special interests involved. They could save a lot money if they could just keep things simple. I feel the same way about local projects as well...let the people vote if they want a fast ferry, new bus terminals, etc. Again, it's not the Republicans vs Democrats vs Lobbyists...it's either what the people want or don't want. Let us vote and let us decide. |
Wow you're such a loser! LOL Praise God?! L O S E R ! haha |
Cowards.
Clearly you don't see the irony in what you say -- put rights to popular vote? |
And after we all vote on gay marriage, let's vote on interracial marriage! And interreligious marriage! And age differences in marriage! And what about those people who want to marry people with different eye colors? Vote on that too! What about divorce? Who here has had one? Guess what, we voted you out--move back in with your abusive husband, sorry.
Why does everyone think they have the right to regulate someone else's life? If the government is not going into your church and regulating what you say/do/believe, why do you think that your church can regulate what the government says/does? You are saying that the government now should regulate churches who believe that same-sex unions should be allowed? If so, what about communion in Catholic churches? I know when I was growing up, the priest gave WINE to 2nd graders. Guess what, maybe the government should be regulating that? If the rights of the minority were voted upon by the majority, there would still be slavery, prohibition, women wouldn't be able to vote, etc. Sometimes it takes a group of JUST and KNOWLEDGEABLE people to make sure that everyone is treated the same. Not religious zealots. |

I agree. Let us make that decision. |
| ||||
Then, let's put to vote YOUR right to marry, too! |
The US Supreme Court laughed homosexual bi trans "marriage" out of court in Baker v. Nelson, the US Supreme Court precedent controlling whether or not there is a right.
32 states have voted. The score is 32-0. The American people agree with the US Supreme Court. The New York Times this morning predicted this extremely happy outcome in New York. Homosexuals lost (that's redundant) in Maine last week - Maine, the state selected by homosexuals. Maine was HUGE. Homosexuals are now extremely unhappy because of the money down the drain in Maine. They said something about boycotting lobster. |
Okay, sounds good to me. |
I know, voting on it is ridic, because eventually, it will pass. And then what? Do you vote on it every year? Do we vote on heterosexual marriage too? What happens if in 2099, we vote down heterosexual marriage?
How about we follow the constitution and give every person equal rights? What a joke NYS is...we used to be all cool and progressive, we're not even what Iowa used to be. "Cowards" is right. |

stop wasting time on this gay crap
get our politicians to deal with serious topics people are dying because of the lack of action by these politicians, lets get votes on what really matters and stop wasting time on the bs no ones dying from not voting on gay marriage if youre gay whats it matter if you are married or not why do you need a stupid title to be happy if you love someone be happy and thats it lets spend the time and resources on things that can help people |
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, baby! You ARE a loser. Glad you took time out of your obviously busy day to grace this forum with your erudite commentary. Have your mom look-up the words for you and explain what they mean. Yeah, baby! |

New York State is a comic FAIL.
Let the Bill die. The majority of New Yorkers do not want that Bill to pass.
They can't even agree to vote on something.

The Baker vs Nelson decision was handed down in 1971. A great deal has happened since then. The federal courts could easily decide that this decision is not "good" law any longer as a result. The federal suit agains prop h8 is coming up soon (Jan 11). It'll be interesting to watch (or hear about). And, it's 31 states. How many states approved inter-racial marriage by popular vote prior to the Loving vs Virginia decision????? |

That's not what I hear. |

I understand what you are saying but that is the way it is now with heterosexual marriages. Each state has different requirements of who can marry, how old, etc. etc. The government is and always will dictate what goes on in our lives. Whether it's marriage, how much taxes we pay, legal age limits, tell people that smoke cigarettes that are legal where they can and can not smoke, the immunizations so children can attend school, the list is endless. Yet children can be born to neglectful, abusive, irresponsible, violent, poverty poor, drug/alchol addicted parents and nothing is ever done about that. It's seems we lose our focus on what's important and every once in awhile they throw us a bone. |
