You seriously believe that, don't you? The criminal justice center has nothing to do with any of the candidates for sheriff. I don't care what name the criminal justice center has on it and you shouldn't either. Your concern should be with the tax dollars being spent to build the monstrosity.
Actually, Hicks said that himself. He wants to be part of that process. He also said that he was running because he didn't have any other job to go to. When the matter of his age (70ish) was brought up, he said that he thought he had one more term left in him and that Doolen had time to be Sheriff later. This he did in fact say to me. He stated (incorrectly) that he was running first and so Doolen should step down for that reason. It was very much like talking to a child.

I'm not from there and know nothing about your county officials, but sounds to me like you good honest hard working people need to get to the polls and vote them out and clean the slate. If there is a question about the other guy running then get someone else to run and support them. Remember November and remove as many of them in the Federal goverment and in 2012 get the chosen one out of the White House before we have to graze grass to survive in this country. I do not have to bad mouth the president we all know. Change them out for new blood and start raising heck and telling them what we demand they do and get this country back going again. Defeat the crooks.

It really bothers me that there are so many people in our County that have no morals. If someone is going to cheat on their own spouse, what will he do to us Hardeman County citizens? Think about it.... Too many people are pointing the finger at Dr. Bates! He just calls it like he sees it. He is not trying to cover anything up, he just cares about the County. He cares about the drug problem in this area and as a parent myself, I have been very concerned about it as well. So what about how much money he spends or has spent of these cds? He is a very sucessful business man that stands up for what he believes in. He makes his money honestly and has a very good history of using it for great causes! You people really need to learn to do your own research and stop going off of what other say, because unfortunately none of you know what you are talking about! Just sitting here reading some of the things people are posting is so amusing to me! What good does it do? Really??? If you really care about who wins this race, you wouldnt be on your behinds in front of the computer! You would be out supporting your candidate.... Get over it! Go back to your bibles and read....
I've done my research and I can safely say that EVERYONE cheats! Now where does that leave us?

Just thought I would throw this in the mix.About 10 years ago after all the Whiteville police force quit, the Mayor appointed Delphus hicks as Police chief of Whiteville and asked hin to rebuild the Police dept. This was during the term he got beat by Jeter. One of the first officers he hired was John Doolen.Sheriff Hicks Served for one year and ran for reelection as sheriff and won. Before leaving Whiteville sheriff hicks advised the mayor and board of alderman he believe a good rplacement for him as chief would be Doolen and lobbied hard for him ther were many other applicants. The mayor and board took sheriff hicks advis and as far as I know they have never waivered in ther support of Doolen.Sounds like our sheriff knew who doolen is

I have lived here all my life and think I know what goes on in Whitevvile.Bet yall didnt know that

None of these men are not all that bad and none of them all too good! I think Hardeman County residents just need something to talk about. You guys would have never elected any of tham if you thought bad of them, RIGHT! The best choice for Sheriff is John Doolen! I am proud of him and his officers for their hard work and many endeavors. Keep up the great work!!!!!

I would also like to point out that we stand to lose fine officers after this election is over. Can we afford to lose experienced officers? Officers Chandler, Davis, Hamburg, Skibba and others are always willing to help and advise the public. Officer Davis is involved in most drug-related arrests. Officers Chandler, Hamburg and Skibba are very professional, yet personable men who "protect and serve" our citizens. These officers have their fingers on the pulse of this county and have formed relationships with informants that assist them in finding and stopping the manufacture of meth...and they would take a wealth of information with them. If that occurs, you can count on an increase in drug-related activities while new officers struggle to gather information.
Chandler? Professional ha ha oh im sorry you might have meant professional liar. And im sure when Doolen gets in office it will seem there is an over run of meth problems but thats because they are there now and Doolen will be the one to get rid of them.

I wonder if the Chief of Security (body guard) for the Bates end of the world program is still listed as a Hardeman County Deputy? Hard to be a Deputy if your traveling around the country protecting Bates and helping to push his end times agenda. All other officers attend in-service training annually and according to POST standards must be employed at least twenty hours a week in law enforcement. Private Body Guard doesn't count! If you are a reserve deputy, then you only carry a firearm and credentials while actively engaged as a law enforcement officer serving the agency you are deputized by. So what's your call sign Jess? It appears the "end times" are hear - for some!

John keep your head up and keep runnning strong. Vote Doolen!

There are some good officers in the Sheriff's Department. I wouldn't by any stretch of the imagination give that honor to all of the above listed officers. Some of these people have their fingers too much on the pulse of this county and have formed unlawful relationships with THOSE WHO MANUFACTURE METH.

Since we obviously disagree about the murders, and the article in the Jackson Sun questioning Doolen is now locked away in archives, let's focus on the issue involving military police. I have provided evidence to back it up. Doolen wanted to place military police on the streets of Whiteville to take part in a routine seatbelt check point. The governor and a state representative intervened. The facts are there. The presence of military police was a "bad idea", stated Bredesen and Shaw. Shall we call out the National Guard to assist in the DUI check points? It's absurd. Surely you agree with this. Let's make a deal, okay? I'll take medication as soon as you take off the rose-colored glasses.
I don't wear glasses, sweets. Whatever the newspaper investigators came up with, Mr. Doolen has several officers assigned to the military, some of which returned from Iraq. It was THEIR unit that requested the checkpoint as a training exercise for them, not to assist the Whiteville PD. Have you ever seen a checkpoint? Do you really think that it is necessary for the military to become involved? All of these years all local agencies, to include the Whiteville PD, have either conducted their own checkpoints or had the assistance of other local agencies. And for the governor or anyone else to call this a bad idea, reckon they asked any questions? And here is why I say that, have you ever known of the military to do ANYTHING without clearance? Think about and chew on that one. Now, go take your medicine, k?

Those without sin may cast the first stone. And if u are that Godly, why wait around here on earth? By the way, neither of the other two candidates have been faithful, nor have they admitted their wrondoings on THE NEWS. That takes integrity, my friend. If you think over the years that Delphus has kept his pants up, you have been seriously mislead. Cook divorced his wife to marry his mistress. Haven't heard him address that matter, either, have you? Guess Bates, financial supporter of both, doesn't wish to share that information with the ENTIRE county, huh?

OKay, oh, read all of the other comments from RESIDENTS of the county. Looks like most are pissed off at Hicks and Cook is not a favorite candidate either, huh? And sometimes it is not bad to have an outside opinion to stop and look at. But by you telling someone to shut the fuc* up because they have an opinion - based on the US Constitution - then I guess that make you better than all the rest of us, right? Well, wrong. I'm at the same level as you, so lick my ball* and YOU STFU!

I am from here and am more than familiar with all of the candidates. JOHN DOOLEN is our best bet to finally start fighting crime in the 21st century!
