Last night (11-7-09) about midnight the McKinney police were on a manhunt for someone. Does anyone know the details? There were about 8 squad cars searching all over the Wilson Creek Blvd/Virginia St. area for about 45 minutes with their lights on but no sirens. They scoured all the apartment complexes with their spotlights, drove through, around, behind and between all the complexes over here. What was that all about?

Do you know which business they hit? When I moved here 4 years ago it was so peaceful and quiet. Not so much anymore. So sad...

Golden Coral. McKinney is changing. I looked at a new map and the city limits/land coverage is huge. I didnt know McKinney was so big. The lady also told me the land area will soon be 130 square miles big. Thats twice the size of plano and bigger than Arlington. Wow!!

I agree that mckinney has really gone downhill. It was nice when I first moved there, but I finally decided to move out after the second shooting in my area. The area has gotten too big too fast, and the police seem overwhelmed. On top of this, the city has done nothing to try and spur the local economy, the only thing new seems to be twin peaks. They could learn a thing or two from allen/frisco/plano

I agree, mckinney has done nothing proactive to help the cities economy. It will bite them later in the long run. How do people like this ruin such a great city with so much opportunity. They can learn from the very small town south of us called Allen/fairview. Mckinney turnes everythig down in regards to retail or big box development. Shame on you McKinney, Texas leaders..U suck!!!!!

It was my impression that the new shops at Fairview were in the Mckinney tax base-well the Penny's et al North of Stacey. I don't think the shops south of Stacey are, which is too bad, there are some awesome shops and eateries, and that concert venue--looks great! Am I wrong about the tax base thing?

Leslie, it's the "shops at fairview", that should give you your answer as to who gets the tax revenue. Hint...not McKinney.

Ok, I can see where this would be a "roll your eyes" moment for you reading this, but I really was told by my principal that the shops north of Stacey were part of the McKinney tax base, filtering into our school district. It's been a year or so back and now I can't remember his reasoning. I've noticed the Pennys and all on the north side don't share the same "look" as those on the south side. Well, I can only hope...

The MPD is in jail for multiple robberies?

No surprise there. And you are right that's a great job to get the bozo's with badges off the street so fast.

Believed by whom?

I have never run into a bad link anywhere on any Topix site. They must screen for them like any reputable company. And only a complete idiot doesn't use anti-virus software. From my experience, it seems that the only distortion of the truth is your post. Tell it like it is. You don't want people to find out information and references. The only question is, why?

But then again you are the neighborhood nutcase.

Another Great Job Guys!

Wooley, Truett Street, Hernandez, and now Donahew.

All falsely arrested.

POLICE DROP ROBBERY CHARGES AGAINST DONAHEW

By Danny Gallagher, McKinney Courier-Gazette
Published: Thursday, November 19, 2009 9:15 PM CST

It turns out that 33-year-old Jason Scott Donahew wasn't the person McKinney police were looking for in connection with a string of bank and business robberies.

McKinney police Lt. Scott Brewer confirmed Thursday evening that the McKinney PD dropped all three robbery charges against Donahew in connection with the recent robberies of the First Convenience Bank inside a Kroger store on W. University Avenue, a Valero gas station on N. Central Expressway and a Golden Corral restaurant on S. Central Expressway.

McKinney police investigators originally arrested and charged Donahew on Sunday. He received a second-degree felony count of robbery and two first-degree felony counts of aggravated robbery and placed in a Collin County Detention Center holding cell on a $450,000 bond, according to jail records.

Lt. John Norton of the Collin County Sheriff's Office said jail officials released Donahew around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after the McKinney PD released the charges against him.

Donahew could not be located for comment by press time Thursday.

It is not known if the McKinney PD have another suspect or are still searching for the person responsible for all three robberies.

At least I finally know what business around here was robbed. Too bad they didn't get the guy. Or the right guy. Or could keep the guy.

You are fooling no one "Dear", and really you never have.

Why don't you switch vowels with consonants when you fake misspelling? That would make you (alone) think you are even more clever ! And daddy would be so proud of you.

I’ve not seen a single person (except you) express an opinion that they hate police officers, on any Topix forum, at any time. Who would hate any good person doing a good job who does their job legally and honestly? No one.

What has been vividly seen is that people hate corrupt, incompetent and lying cops. People no longer trust police officers and do not automatically believe what they say in person, in media quotes or in court rooms anymore. With good reason.

Dirty cops deserve all the public derision, exposure and jail time possible. People hate the fact that it isn’t “just a few bad apples” of bad cops. Instead they find out it is a large, systemic, internally supported community of corruption within the departments.

And that my friends is a fact. Even my friend Webster agrees.
