It's just a miracle he didn't kill an innocent person before he got stopped! High hats to the officer that noticed his vehicle "drifting."

So he gets 6 years and is allowed to serve the sentances concurrently, so he should be in a bar and on a road near you in 6 - 9 months???

Could Judge John Scotillo have given a longer sentence? If so why didn't he? This man will do this again and the next time may kill someone.

last time i checked, we dont punish people for what they MIGHT do. we punish them for what they actually do.

"but he could have killed someone!" doesn't matter - HE DIDN'T.

Why the anger at MADD? Are they making people drink to the point of intoxication? It is an organization of primarily innocent victims of DUI accidents.

The problem is these drunken idiots who think they can get away with it because they are smarter than everybody else. On the website you reference they point out the gross exaggerations of enforcement. Most DUI's don't fall into these categories.

To paraphrase Jedd Clampett on the old Beverly Hillbillies TV show: If brains was lard these drunks would grease a mighty small pan.

Even if one does kill someone, the legal system/judges are still too lenient; been there! Nothing will stop them from drinking and driving. Support your local MADD and AAIM; thank you.

When Jed Clampett discovered his "bubbling crude", oil was @$10/bbl. Mr. Drysdale's bank held JD Clampett's $65 million fortune. Today his fortune would be over $800 million, plus he saved a bunch on his car insurance by switching to Geico.

We have laws...
- need a drivers' license
- proof of insurance
- vehicle registration
- seat belts
- sober
Did I miss any...???
Every day people are arrested,
eye-bonded & released...some
of them not even citizens.
Little wonder no one takes the law
too serious...especially the criminals...ain't got nothing, ain't got nothing to lose!!!

A Cook County judge was arrested for a DUI accident last weekend, but not one word about it in the news. Talk about a double standard.

Blood alcohol level of 0.155? The guy must have been self-embalmed by the time they picked him up.

I think this gentleman has proven he does not want help. How compassionate would you be if he finally killed someone close to you. Open your eyes he's a drunk who doesn't want help.

Just so no one mistakes what Judge Scotillo did - the sentence range on a class X offense is 6-30 years. Judge Scotillo sentenced this man to the bare minimum allowed by law.

And to "Mad at MADD" he isn't being punished for what he "might" have done, he was convicted, for the 7th time, of doing something illegal. This guy proves that there is no deterrent effect to our laws.

"most DUIs don't fall into these categories?" which categories are those? i still see DUI law developing into a system that defies our constitutional rights. no jury trial, no evidence preservation, double jeopardy, convictions based on inaccurate evidence, police road blocks...the list goes on and on. to quote the lawyer on www.duiblog.com , "first they came for the drunks, but i wasnt drunk, so i did not speak up." MADD wont stop until alcohol is illegal.
