I was born and raised in southeastern Kansas but am now living in Virginia. I had not visited Kansas for quite a few years until the year 2000. One thing that I had forgotten about was the wall-to-wall stars on a clear night out in the country. No light pollution. Very little, or no, air pollution. It was truly a canopy of stars. We don't have that back here on the East Coast.

Yes, on a clear night the stars are breathtaking. In the summers when I was very young (in the days before air-conditioning), the entire family sat outside, watched the stars, and visited. To this day, I still go outside almost every night, winter and summer, to look at the sky before going to bed.

The nite sky on a summer nite. It is so peaceful. And if you are lucky to live out in the country, you hear frogs, crickets, birds singing. What a way to spend a quiet nite.

I love the quiet nights, the sounds of frogs and coyotes, the stars, the sunsets, the sunrises and the great expanse of the prairie, especially in spring with all of the new growth of wildflowers dotting the Flint Hills.
I especially love living in a small town when you know that "rush hour" is usually when school starts in the morning and when it ends in the afternoon. The most dangerouse person on the road is the little old lady down the block that occasionally gets lost and forgets that stop means stop. Walking with friends or alone from one side of town to the other takes less than 30 minutes unless you stop and visit with the townsfolk. Rural Kansas is a wonderful place to be... |

You really know how to show a young lady a good time. That pretty well sums up the content of your character. |

Sorry Earl, the DoDo King has outdone him.(That's not the name I am thinking of, but that's the one I wrote.) But then, he's not worth troubling ourselves. Go back to Kansas nite sky. |

You know, I was thinkin' about it, and I wanted to add a couple things - just to be clear. Don't get me wrong, sex is great, especially under the stars. But any young woman who is throwing it away on you, in a school parking lot, really oughta re-think her priorites, check out her options. |

It's kind of funny how you can go to Grand Lake or Lake of the Ozarks and see all those Kansas tags at the fishing docks when I can pull 3 to 5 pound bass out of little old creeks in Eastern Kansas any time I want. We miss out on our own state just because we don't look.
Do you know how Door King got his name? It's from the hole he drilled in the door of the restroom at the I 70 rest stop. Chi Chi told me how well he likes that hole. |

They are classic low self-esteem types who thrive on treating people like dirt in order to bring them down to the level they feel they are. They need counseling and should be pitied. I always return their insults a couple times and remember that they are just trying to build themselves up so I start ignoring them from then on. |

There's a spot southeast of El Dorado on a country road where you can stop at the top of a hill and literally see for 25 miles. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth. Then there's the drive up 177 from Matfield Green to Council Grove. I hope Marci can get some folks to check out the Flint Hills a little closer.
