I wonder if the "wolf packs" will dress up as were-wolves for All Hallows Eve?
I wonder silly things like that sometimes.
I may need help.

Hoff, I really can't believe you dismissed my poetry like so much crap. That hurts.
Oh well. I guess I'm over it.

I stopped doing the halloween gig a few years ago. When 20-ish guys come up to the house,no custume,no young ones with them to get candy, they asked for more,I said I need what I have for others, they said they'd come back to see if I have any left! Then, the very kids that throw trash on my property, won't say any greetings to me the rest of the year, scrathed up the side of my car while playing on the sidewalk, one shot out my dining room window(never seen that kid before),found out he lived on the next street, kids comming off the bus, being dropped off from who knows where,I would have to have a grocery store full of treats to accomodate the crowds.Too much.I really enjoyed doing halloween.I dressed for it to greet the kids. Then I was actually threatened!"There better be more for me next year,or I'll punch you out!"That ended it for me.my nieghbors use to also sit out and wait for the kids, same happened to them.now no one on my block bothers.A shame.Sign of the times.

I wouldn't even consider these little bastards as wolf packs simply because there is pride and glory when it comes down to what a wolfpack really is. They do it just because they want to make a name for themselves aka (street cred). They are simple kids that are attacking in groups because they are too much of a bitch to do it alone. Simple as that. They don't deserve the title of a wolfpack

I grew up on Midway, In a time that has left us all.

It was a "neighborhood" meaning, Mrs. Okane would call my mother and tell her if I was doing anything wrong. Mrs Callahan had a whole clan of kids, and when one of them acted up - you could hear the phone ringing! You dreaded going home if you did something wrong and your parents already knew about it.

We used to play outside in the summer, past the time that the street lights came on, but we knew the night was coming to an end. You went home, nice and safe, anxious for the next day.

I guess it all comes down to "our parents gave a crap" and instilled self respect, and respect for others.

Too bad these kids can't have a normal upbringing and just be kids - they have to act out some bizzare sick action because something is lacking in their lives.

God help them.

Midway, sometimes I don't think that its even the parents to blame. People cna have the best of parents and their kids can still end up being involved with things that will damage their future. Basically if you don't have hard clear evidence that a kid is acting up, some parents wouldn't even believe it if you informed them. Start with the community. You'd be surprised about how much influence a community has on a child over their parents. Plus nobody believes in the honor and respect code anymore.

Why do they not believe in honor and respect? Is the end of the world nigh? Maybe the world really will end on December 21st, 2012 like the Mayan calendar predicts.

Yes, Midway, it was a neighborhood once upon a time. I grew up right around the corner from there on Wilshire. I mean, there were some assholes, but it wasn't dangerous to walk around at night like it is now. There is a stubborness in the black community to call police, and testify against criminals. Some say they fear retaliation, but that's bullshit. These little piss ant street thugs don't have that kind of power, especially if they're in jail. They've become apathetic to the crime situation because it's all they've ever lived with. Also cooperating with police is considered "Uncle Tom-ish".
