It took place in Lubec, Maine about 5 miles from Eastport. And you don't dig for "periwinkles," you pick them off the beach. The proper term for this activity is "wrinkling," and a lot of people in Lubec do this as their primary income source.

You mean one can still go wrinkling up there? Are there markets?? I dearly loved that job...but down here in casco bay they are a bit small. |
