It has been quite a weekend of incredible sports with record-breaking at the Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska and Venus Williams winning at Wimbledon in England even though her younger sister, Serena, ranks first in the world.(See that URL and article in the "News.")

Below is an article by Detroit that details Phelps' setting a new record, Torres' accomplishments and human interest story since she is 41 years old and Piersol's win. Mark Spitz, former swimming Olympian, helped to award medals. Phelps may be able to break Mark Spitz's former world records at the Olympics in Bejing.
