I have tried to ignore the constant bombardment of SaltonSeaWest of the current Salton City sewer system; thinking that it would die for lack of notice.
However, this information is still posted on the website. Does anyone, in their wildest dreams, really believe that the state of California is going to ignore such alligations, if they are true? Does anyone believe that the state has not been here and inspected the 'offending' areas mentioned by Mr. Barrett?
Do you honestly believe that you could continue to push your little silver handle every morning, if the state believed that the disposal of that flush was not appropriate?
Mr. Barrett is delaying progress with his continuous complaints, alligations, filings of motions, and delays at the actual board meetings. Not to mention the cost of legal fees involved! Also, not to mention his continuous filings with the Grand Jury, who have (to my knowledge) not even responded to his last four filings with them!
It's time to stop playing games.
In any other area you would pay the fees imposed without question, because you know the state is watching your back. Do you honestly think it is any different here, because we are in the middle of the desert? The state of California (the Water Quality Board) watches this area just as it watches the City of Los Angeles, or the small town of Brawley.
It is the public health -- even though we are 'way out in the middle of nowhere.' The state of California is not going to allow leakage of sewage or malfunction of a sewer system no matter where it is located within the state.
Mr. Barrett has cost the tax payers tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees and then files for personal reimbusement of a sewer increase he feels is illegal.
The increase was imposed for the increased cost of maintaining the system. PART OF WHICH IS (Barrett) LEGAL FEES!!!!
If anyone knows this desert, they know that there are several WET SPOTS throughout the desert because of underground springs and etc. Because they happen to be near the Salton City sewer ponds is simply coincidence -- nothing else. If it were otherwise, Water Quality would have shut the current ponds down by now; or, at the very least, put a Board order on the District.
It's time for this to stop; and for the legal fees to end SO THAT OUR YEARLY MAINTENANCE COSTS DO NOT KEEP RISING!!
