I wonder why they were stopped in the middle of the highway. I hope that we get an update on this story. Thoughts and prayers for the victim's families.

You guys are harsh! Who knows yet while they were stopped, maybe they couldn't get over in time. This could be your little girl or your grandmother, anyone you love. It is a tragic accident. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.

From what I have heard the car broke down & the driver was trying to get out of the way when they were struck by the explorer from the rear. So maybe you should wait to get all of the facts before you start assuming that someone did it on purpose. I'm sure everyone knows what happens when you assume.......

To Taterbug:

I hope that you don't have a driver's license. Since you don't know that automobiles don't instantly stop when the engine shuts down, there is always time to coast and pull over onto the shoulder of the road on an interstate or if the left hand lane is busy into the median. Both you and the Honda driver are obvious road hazards.

All you are showing is you ignorance of the facts in this post.

this is why A) you need to be aware of your surroundings! B) know what to do when your car breaks down. the first thing you need to do is GET OUT!!!!!!!!(When its safe of course) i do send my prayers for the victims but this is a reminder to all! PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!!!!!

As one of the many folks caught this morning in the traffic jam resulting from this serious accident, I was distressed to watch as impatient drivers sped along the far right breakdown lane... it looked to me like they were directly impeding the movement of an ambulance and police vehicles that were trying to get through to help the victims of this crash! Impatient drivers who impede the movement of emergency personnel should be brought to court and lose their licenses... how would you like it if your loved one was dying in a crash and other self absorbed drivers were delaying the ambulance? Remember to be patient and think of the victims in these situations, not the fact that you are late to your meeting. God be with those who lost their lives and their surviving family members.

Yes Davis, I was not there, just applying a little common sense and 52 plus years driving experience without hurting anyone to the situation.

Also you were not there and you posted this to start this blog as the very first entry:

"That is awfull. Very sad. The vitims were probably in the civic."

Your statement was an assumption by someone not there.

Maybe the driver of the SUV was too busy talking on the cell phone to notice that the car was stopped. And maybe the driver of the car was a young, inexperienced driver who didn't know what else to do. Or maybe those impatient drivers mentioned before were passing the car on the right, preventing the driver from moving over. Regardless of how it happened and who was at fault, it happened, and what a tragic loss for the victims and their families.

Davis:

Your assumption using common sense and a gut feeling about which vehicle the fatal injuries were in proved to be correct, you don't have to be there to apply reasonable judgement as you did. Experience and logic counts for something.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Libra

Be very careful when handling financial matters today because not everything is as straightforward as it seems. For instance, someone may tell you about a fail-safe way of making money but neglect to mention all the reasons why it's totally illegal. There could also be mistakes if you're spending money, such as being short-changed or overcharged. So watch out!
