The economy needs more than a few paltry 'jolts' at this point. It is time to re-access the 'corporate welfare/entitlement programs' of the military/industrial complex - which amounts to over 750 BILIION dollars a year and benefits the likes of Halluburton, Kellogg Brown & Root, and Boing, et al. The American public is being robbed of their productivity by the Bush/Cheney regime which English supports. This regime has used American lives and taxpayer money to procure oil fields for corporate interests, while privatizing the military for its own use - immoral and treasonous actions by any account. Long term investment in education, health care, and infrastructure is much overdue - but goes lacking due to the selfish interests of corporate America - which now has replaced "We the people..." with "We the corporations..." on our constitution - as personified by the Washington lobbyist who actually determine the legislative process.

"corporate america" provides jobs and the most percentage of taxes paid. you forgot to mention entitlement programs to illegals and millions having babies without any means of supporting them. replace corporate america with illegals and those who don't pay (only collect) taxes...and we'll have the full-on socialist country that you are seeking so badly

you don't want your National Fuel bill to go up, but I had a meter reader at my work complaining that he "only" makes $18/hr, plus benefits...how do you suggest a company pay those kinds of wages/benefits without charging the consumer for it?????

Funny how it took almost 80 years before this happened. Corporate greed had nothing to do with it right?

Hey Everton, obviously you are a proud drop out of the government school system, but consider this when you talk about spending... Annual U.S. Department of Education spending on elementary and secondary education increased from $27.3 billion in 2001 to $38 billion in 2006, up by nearly 40 percent. According to the education department, annual spending on the Title I program to assist disadvantaged children grew by 45 percent between 2001 and 2006. In 2007, the department will spend 59 percent more on special education programs than it did in 2001. As far as your war on the rich goes, in 2005 the top 1% earned 21.2% of the nations wages, but paid 39.4% of the taxes. You losers in the bottom 50% who do nothing for this country but complain earned 12.83% of the country's wages, but paid only 3.07% of the taxes. I'd say you aren't doing your share! So shut up and get to work for a change.

Add to that the Bush 2003 tax cuts rich - and guess who's left picking up the bill?

Such agreements only benefit international corporate interest.

So shut up and get to work for a change. My hypocritical greedy capitalist fiend: It is the working middle class that runs the engine of the American economy! The sooner you and your ilk understand that simple concept the better! Without the buying power of the American middle class the entire world economic system falters. Reagan started the process of busting unions per the air traffic controllers. This assault on the middle class has been the modus operandi of both Bush administrations. Only during the Clinton years did the ENTIRE economy flourish. Might I remind you that Clinton's initial budget passed without a SINGLE republican vote. But it was that budget (with its INCREASE of taxes on the rich) which set in motion the greatest economic expansion in modern history!

Everton, I only respond to you so that some poor soul may not be mislead by your misinformation. This can ALL be quantified...When Clinton took over the economy had already been on the rebound from a very short recession. Due to his "Largest tax increase in U.S. history" the economy took a downturn and was in decline when he turned over the reigns to President Bush. Earlier you mentioned Enron, and Enron happened under Clinton but those responsible were PROSECUTED under Bush. Clinton's tax increase was very correctly NOT supported by the Republicans, and history shows that he was dragged kicking and screaming into a balanced budget by the Republican majority that took over in 1994. Once again, you have nothing to offer except for excuses and catch phrases that just aren't true. Try the Huffington Post, they would love your dribble.
