Mr. Stiglich has the story right--up to a point--concerning the fuels buildup in our forests due to a century of fire suppression. But he didn't mention the number one reason for increased fire hazard--logging, as has been amply shown by top scientific researchers. And--he is dead wrong when he discusses QLG and suggests that this is a good model for the entire West. Nothing could be further from the truth. QLG is a totally failed model driven by payoffs primarily from the timber industry. Two of their most vocal members have received over $470,000 in payments from the timber industry and Plumas and Lassen counties (our tax dollars)--without even having a contract in place. QLG is another name for corruption and it should not be supported by thinking people.

Okay...you obviously don't care for the QLG solution, although it's not all that clear exactly why. So, what's your plan to fix our forests and eliminate the threat of catastrophic fires?

It's easy to find fault, but more difficult to offer effective solutions.

I'm waiting......

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
