County Commisioner?

I guess this is another attempt by the Smith Gang to threaten the Voters of Telfair County. How sad it must be to be that insecure with your job performance.

As I said, Sheriff Smith has no clue who I am. I didn't even vote for him in the last election. But I see no problem with the job he's been doing, and I DO see a lot of lies and smear tactics being used to defame him, which shows how inadequate your candidate must be, whoever they are. And I DO intend to offer to provide legal counsel to him if he should want it. My treat. No threat, just sharing my intentions. I watched this fiasco for quite a while before I finally decided to respond to it. But it's become ridiculous.

THIS FICTITIOUS PERSON THAT didnt vote for him last time is gonna pay legal costs for him now....YEAH RIGHT......I have some swamp land in arizona to sell whoever believes this.....Maybe this fictitious person does not any property taxes in Telfair County...I think a property tax payer can comment in any way about a local official that is overbudget and overspending and there is any evidence of misuse of tax monies..or this person has ever been an overspender..whether the official or his supporters like it or not....this is the same person that previously said jail bills werent part of the sheriffs budget....and shouldnt be counted..!!!!!..That sounds like something congress would say....when in deficit budget spending in my opinion.....and anything i post is just that MY OPINION AND IM ENTITLED AS LONG AS I PAY LOCAL PROPERTY TAXES....I CAN COMMENT ON ANY TAX EXPENDITURES......RIGHT OR WRONG.......

have a new jail because we are having to give that money to douglas to pay for their jail. I have to wonder why we would be doing that.....I know first hand that previous sheriffs would get people out on probation , parold supervision and low bonds that had not been sentenced....and worked hard to keep the inmate count as low as possible.And it just sounds like people have no confidence in the current sheriffs abilities to accomplish that or whatever it takes to ise the tax[ayer dollars wisely.....I guess we have to ask ourselves if this person has managed his personal budget and finances wisely since budgeting and finances are an issue to decide for ouselves if we have confidence or not......????that is a individual or personal question or desision....to make....Lets face it many of these people in jail dont pay taxes they just use tax revenue.....So they are a COST to the taxpayer....and the taxpayer has the right to demand smart budget decisions in these kind of matters.....

and the one before him....Im told that managing the inmate count is a daily job that takes work....there are many ways to do it like i said (probation, parole, low bonds for unconvicted people).....that are not flight risks.getting the state to pick the prisoners up....notifying the cotrrections dept. about court cases timely so the prison will bring them to court with state officers ...if this is done in an untimely manner the local sheriff has to transport and hold them as well as feed them......BUT...and i say but it is constant work to stay on top on it......Is this being done properly to save tazpayers money or not???????

we have the right to expect wise use of all tax monies from all sheriffs the one that got in trouble and served time and the ones that didn't........So yeah any county official has to answer to questions or issues concerning public funds......Actually Im more interested in whether the total budget has increased in te last 4 years as much as i am concerned about paying 400,000 a year reportedly to someone else to do our sheriffs dept.'s job for them holding inmates....im told our jail is not closed...that there are 30 inmates up there as well as in Douglas....??????

Try this simple math. 60 inmates, minus 30 that can be housed in Telfair (capacity), equals 30 inmates that need to be housed. Do you advocate turning these people out without the authority to do so from a judge? Would you like some as your neighbors? Can you house 3 or 4 without charge to help the county?

Simple logic will tell you Sheriff Smith wasn't involved in that mess. Unless you have a problem using simple logic, that is.
