I read some time ago that this judge has a conflict of interest. I wonder why this has not become an issue and why I've heard no more about it.

Can you explain more about what this "conflict of interest" is? Just saying that there is one without any basis is a little unfair.

Thank God for the Virginia Court! At least somebody has some common sense. I have never been witness to the to the Bishop Offices or the Episcopal Church itself paying for a local congregation's church & property upkeep. It has always been the people of each congregation to take care of the buildings and grounds. Therefore, the church and grounds belong to the people of each individual congregation.

Timmytracker - you need to site examples and back up your claims that she is wrong. In regards to The Falls Church, they were in existence years before the Episcopal denomination even existed. And the properties have always been held in the hands of the individual vestry members, not the national denomination. And no... the episcopal denomination does not give money to individual churches so they can repair a window or mow the grass or even expand the church. This is done at the individual church level... even as far as borrowing money from banks... not from the denominational offices.

Rather than just saying someone is wrong. Back up your statements. It makes for a much better debate.

Centuries of Anglicanism pre - the Episcopal Church established the tradition that the diocese holds the property -- I'm talking morally! If one doesn't recognize that then one reflects a fundamentally flawed understanding of Anglicanism!
