The old man probably had a bunch of service fees levied on him by some pencil pushing office moles and decided to even the score a little. Could this be Coast Central in McKinleyville? It is not listed in my phone book.

It's just going to get worse as the government and the rich keep taking and the rest of us have to keep paying for their free rides. There is revolution in the wind. Just listen.
The caller was behind the Shell Station (1606 Central) and the deputies located the suspect in the Rite Aid parking lot. |
Was this another burned-out Liberal, with a medical marijuana card?
Maybe he heard about the fox attacks in Arcata!
were this to have happened in Eureka he would've Ween shot dead by LEO's.
grrr, damned fat fingers.....should read "been", not "Ween"
Just another reasonable citizen exercising his right to keep and wave arms around indiscriminately.
| ||||
Nope. This was a bug-eyed old neocon, angry that our country is becoming Communist. I'm surprised he didn't shoot himself in the foot. |
Please define neocon. Normally it seems to be used as a perjorative for someone that does not buy the "Progressive" belief structure. It also seems to be independent of any other usage. I recognize that it is a newish term having only been around for several years.
Given his age, I was wondering about dementia. |
Were he to have pointed a rifle at an LEO most ANYWHERE he could easily have been shot dead. He's darn lucky he didn't do anything even more stupid, and that the deputies' tactics, whatever they were, worked out well for everybody. |
Matter of fact, were he to have pointed a rifle at anyone who was armed, cop or not, he could easily have been shot dead. He was probably even more likely to have been shot if it hadn't been cops, who train for and encounter armed people frequently, and almost always resolve the situations peacefully. |
The article stated the man's age as 76, if I recall correctly. Perhaps he was suffering from the effects of medication or dementia. The man was fortunate to have been stopped by the police and not a trigger happy citizen.
he was probably pissed about this...
http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/i... Obama finds a reach around, er, I mean work around, for the 2nd amendment. horray for globalization! |
Ok, let us all remember this was an article in the Times SUB Standard and they are known for retracting and/or correcting their factual late breaking news articles. I find it hard to believe that this man leveled his shotgun at deputies and another man and is only being charged with two misdemeanors, if this is infact how this all played out I thank these deputies for not shooting "MY FATHER". In a community as small as McKinleyville the Times-Standard will be re-writing their article and I say rewriting because that is what Allison White of the Times-Standard told me this article was when I called this afternoon letting them know they would be hearing from me again if this was not exactly what happened.
He'd be DEAD if he pointed that piece at me.
Exactly... point being before people have too much fun with this lovely rewrite lets get the facts straight |

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At 6:00 this morning, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a parking lot on the 1600 block of Central Avenue in McKinleyville after receiving reports of gunfire at that location. Responding deputies found a man holding a rifle. As deputies approached, the man, Clarence Clarke, 76 and transient, appeared to level his rifle at the deputies. Using their public address system, the deputies instructed the Clarke to put the rifle down; he complied. The deputies were able to approach Clarke safely and detain him. A witness reported that prior to law enforcement’s arrival, Clarke pointed his rifle at him. Additional witnesses reported that Clarke had fired his rifle once, into the air, while standing in the parking lot. Clarke was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for exhibiting a firearm and the negligent discharge of a firearm. His bail was set at $20,000 and he is expected to be arraigned by Thursday. No injuries were reported. Gary Philp Sheriff |

A rewrite is when a paper rewrites a press release for publication, not rewriting an article they got wrong. |
For your information, I was there when the call to the police was made. I watched the ENTIRE thing. He did level the gun at the police and they didn't shoot him. The police handled it quite well. |
