None of these guys, including Ben, have experience coaching a Quad A championship team. That's what we need.

The head coach should have been somebody with successful Quad A experience. This will truly be the end of a wonderful era of good McKeesport Tiger football.

$7,000 was not going to have any high profile coaches beating down our doors. My humble opinion is that if the only guy with head coaching experience has a lifetime record of 6 and 34, why not give a hometown kid a shot to make good. Coach Harper should of at least been given the opportunity to be our head coach. Once again a decision is made with out taking the best interests of our students into consideration.

He is just a McKeeport Grad who has coached here and is well respected by the parents, but more importantly the kids.This is the better coach we were promised though, we should be happy we got a guy with such an outstanding record of 6-34. For my 2 boys, (10th and 8th grade) Serra Catholic looks better and better each day.

The guy will be the coach for two years. The next election year for school board will replace the boardmembers who destroyed the program and replace this guy as the coach( and even the super. asst.supper the A.D. and buss.mg.)who have placed a big burdon of debt on our children.If you have room toplace these kids in the other schools why do we need to build Three schools
The coaching staff that is not there anymore will become the new schoolboard,these guys know how to run programs.

Good point - vouchers to send your kids to any school you wish will neutralize the union nd let the SB know they screwed up with coaching nepotism.

Yeah he knows what he is talking about, I really liked how he said under Coach Smith McKeeport won 2 WPIAL titles and 1 State Championship. I guess he forgot the other one. Like one of the earlier posters stated $7,000 wasn't going to attract many high profile names, which is why it should have went to Harper. He should at the very least been given a chance.

have to chuckle after reading the articles in the newspaper justifying the new coach's losing records with his past teams. the article said ward took over troubled teams.

its amazing what you can find out with just a little effort and a computer.

yough was 3-7 with ward this year AFTER making the playoffs last season. south allegheny was 4-6 the year before ward took over. 2-8 the next year, 1-9 the next year, and 0-10 his last year. it looks as if the teams GOT WORSE with this guy!

we can only hope it doesn't happen here, because we are stuck with him.

Now Mob ASD you better not use college grade point average when my offspring applies to the district. My offspring worked read hard for six years and was given a degree in education with a GPA of 1.999999. We / I made a few phone calls they rounded it up to a 2.0 GPA. That is a heck of a lot better than the coach’s record of performance.

If 6 and 34 was the best you could come up with then why bother. You had at least 2 quality candidates (Capazolli and Harper)that applied from within that have the respect of the kids, why not at least give them a chance. Cry all you want that Ward didn't have the horses, but his SA teams got worse under his watch, not better. He just seems to get hired for all the right POLITICAL reasons.
