I hardly think he has that much influence, he struggles like a retard to run this city, no offense to the mentally handicapped. If it wasn't for section 8 & gov't. welfare money, this place would be a ghost town. Like everything else the socialist-democrats touch, it fails. They need a hole & an excuse to funnel taxpayer moneies into that can be pilfered & covered up as long it is being spent in the name of 'welfare, distressed areas or po' worthless peoples that need the mastahs to provide for them. And human leeches of all colors fit this description.

Lighten up on George. He does a excellent job and has low fees. Yes, he has excellent political skills and a close friend of the mayor and his solicitor. We all know they recommended him for the MASD solicitor position. He is helping MASD get out of the Kimball contract for a termination fee of only $150,000 and it could have been as much as $2.7 million per the Dravosburg school board member. He should be commended for saving the taxpayers over $2.5 million. However, not all SB members and school administrators agreed with his proposed settlement and the fact that neither gave him the authority to become engaged in this settlement. But, this is just an example of how he is a self starter and always looking to save the taxpayers money even without the sanction of the administration or SB.

AG Corbett now that you completed the following, could you stop by MASD and have Chairman Joe explain the justification for an outragous PPM contract which is $700,000 higher than the lowest proposal? Let me know if you need a ride in from the GPA.
By MARK SCOLFOROHARRISBURG, Pa.- November 12, 2009 --
Former state House Speaker John Perzel is among 10 people connected to the House Republican caucus charged Thursday in a legislative investigation into the misuse of public resources and employees for campaign purposes.
Attorney General Tom Corbett said a grand jury found that Perzel, a Philadelphia Republican who still serves in the House, was the architect of an illegal scheme in which more than $10 million in taxpayer money was spent to help win political campaigns.
All told, the grand jury presentment said it found that the House Republican caucus spent more than $20 million between 2000 and 2007 on many activities that benefited political purposes.
Perzel sought to gain a competitive advantage in political campaigns for himself and other GOP candidates throughout the state in order to maintain and increase his power, Corbett said.
Perzel insisted in a written statement that he was innocent. "I have faithfully served the people of my district, my city and my state for more than 30 years, and I have never used public funds for my personal or political gain," he wrote.
Also charged in the ongoing grand jury probe were Perzel's former chief of staff, Brian Preski, and former House GOP counsel Brett Feese.
The charges revolve around the use of taxpayer money to buy voter data, computer software and services to buttress GOP campaign efforts, and efforts to cover it up, Corbett said. Campaign work by some House GOP information technology employees became pervasive, he said.
Corbett said efforts to cover up the schemes added significantly to the time and cost of the investigation, which began in 2007.
"You're interfering with justice; you're interfering with people finding out with what truly happened," Corbett said. Corbett announced the latest charges, which include theft, conspiracy, conflict of interest and obstruction of justice, at a news conference Thursday at his Harrisburg office.
The defendants were scheduled to surrender Friday morning before a Dauphin County district judge, Corbett said.
They come 16 months after Corbett's office charged a dozen people connected to the House Democratic caucus, including former Democratic Whip Michael Veon, with similar offenses.
Corbett, who is seeking the 2010 GOP nomination for governor, had been criticized for charging only Democrats. He said that the investigation was continuing and that more arrests were anticipated.

mck ran by politics wrote: <quoted text> that is just too funny!!!! Who are you? Gobel? Has to be hahah Do you think Mr. Gobel would waste billable minutes by responding on Topix? I think you are not a fan of George. But, that does not stop me from trying to be fair to George. No need to call him or anyone nasty names. I realize that George is a lighten rod at times. That is just part of his charisma and flamboyancy. Lawyers tend to advertise that way. It is cheaper than those intruding Edgar Snyder spots on TV. In fact, I seem to recall that his former office in the 10th ward intercepted some high velocity projectiles. I think this was a random drive-by accidental discharge of a handgun. Some thought the driver was putting his/her weapon in the glove box and his/her passenger dog snapped at the trigger. Dog is OK – damaged ear drums only. But, George did get some unwelcome free TV coverage. See Edgar -- ha ha - George did not have to pay. I was gald to hear no one was injured.

Take it easy on these Citizen School Board Members / City Employees. They all passed the tests needed to be City Employees. The City bar is rather high. And, they cleared it with space to spare.

When are the others going to leak out their good fortune?

wow wrote: who is the new SB president does she own land in mckeesport? We must wait until the December reorganization meeting. No "she" will be president. Wayne will return. It will be 9 to 0 and no one will even think about challenging him. Notice how easy it is for him to become president. Who do you think was one of deal makers for Tedesco? He has complete control of the board. His son will soon be the boss of three City officers on the SB. Wayne has an automatic 4 votes. The home rule charter permits this situation. And, only Donato had the civic interest to try to correct this in a very questionable court ruling. This is what the MDC and teacher's union wanted and this is what they got. Rumor on the street is that a certain school board elect’s offspring is applying for the PR position. Rumor on the street is that another certain school board elect’s offspring will transfer his “sports” expertise from West Mifflin to MASD These board members are not even sworn in yet and nepotism rears its ugly head.
