.Yeah its pretty silly. The religious have gotten away with retarding our society too long, especially in JC. Just imagine a nice dance barn (no drinking allowed) in town. Lots of line dancing, local bands, classes and so on. It would be great exercise (thats were you get up and do an activity) and social interaction. But no....the churches band together and make sure that doesn’t happen....why? Because the churches want/need their buildings to be the only places for music, "dance" and social interaction. We the people should band together to fight these religious zealots who have ruled our life and retarded our community for far too long. We ALL pay taxes, we all have rights. Stop letting a few back hills bybull thumpers get their way

Zingo, I agree. Do people go to London, Richmond, etc. for alcohol?

Wow, I didn't realize anyone still had an interest in line dancing...
Anyhow, I had no idea that anyone had attemped to open a "nice dance barn" in town. Which churches were involved with stopping it? What reasons did they give?

The city of Somerset has a wet/dry vote coming up June 26. There are a LOT of "NO" vote signs in the Somerset area. I don't think it'll pass . Our Burnside area is "moist" meaning you can have a beer/mixed drink with your meal at a couple resturants!

Wow "keenanv", I wouldn't have thought of you as being the dancing type! And here I was thinking line dancing kind of died out in the 90s with the whole "Urban Cowboy" thing. Gosh, I guess I was wrong about both!
Are there any "nice dance barns" near you or in Somerset or Burnside? LOL, if there was a dance barn in McKee would you be more likely to come back and visit the old friends you often ask about more often? By the way, do you know which churches it was that retarded the community by stopping the dance barn in McKee? McKee Baptist perhaps?
Yeah, Burnside has been moist for some time now hasn't it? I suppose that was influenced quite a bit due to the lake traffic?
It will be interesting to see what Somerset does. I have doubts that the majority in Somerset will vote wet, especially since London did not. Anyhow, nice talkin' to ya, LOL!

You're "right on with your line dancing comments" HOWEVER those in the Somerset area who like to dance take in the places in Lexington "to strut their stuff"! Burnside has some PROGRESSIVE thinking leaders and the "Ohio navy" sure like to squence their thirst! Doubt seriously if Somerset votes "WET"! SO, the "Ohio navy" will have to keep bringing in their own while the locals have to venture out elsewhere for their "beverages"!

LOL, at the "Ohio navy", and no, I don't think many are going to float those party barges without their beverages. But maybe Somerset merchants will be allowed to sell them a few bags of ice occasionally...
