I heard by word of mouth so be cautious about accuracy that Mark Root, of Big Sandy Lake near Red Rock, was shot and killed last night outside his home by a person he knew who also shot and killed a woman and ultimately killed himself. I don't know any details.

Mark was shot and killed by a man he rented a cabin to who was drunk and jealous of a young woman whom he had been helping but turned creepy on the woman. Mark stood up for her and they were around the bonfire in Mark's yard and the dude went to his car got a 357 fired three shots into the woman who was sitting at the camp fire and three shots into Mark. The freak called 911 and reported two murders then shot himself in the head. Mark's daughter, Jessi, and son Kyle were home at the time. Jessi went outside to holler at them to stop the firecrackers when she learned her father had been murdered.
