Stop being prejudice. Someone must have broken the ten Commandments and DON'T want to be reminded of it.. Leave it alone, I'm Personally tired of giving up anything that has to do with God..OR the bible.. Our country needs God. Look at the mess we're in!!!

maybe you could fire some police officers to pay for the lawyers. heck we don't need the police if everyone could just see the monument. maybe we could have a prayer vigil while burning hundred dollar bills. we could do it tax free in a church

I had no idea that having a stone monument at a courthouse would solve our economic problems. I better put one up in my yard!

Really? They are going to spend tax payer dollars to take this to court? Just leave it there, no one follows them any more anyhow. It amounts to the signs hanging up in all the TGIFriday's it's pretty to look at but not worth talking about, hang a plant on it and be done.

Exodus 20:1-17:

1And God spake all these words, saying,

2I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

7Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

12Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

13Thou shalt not kill.

14Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15Thou shalt not steal.

16Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

The first 5 of these commandments are very specific to Christianity, and the last 5 are general moral values that the laws in this country are based upon. Putting the 10 together insinuates that you need the christian God in order to have these moral values, when civilized man has had these for thousands of years before Christianity ever came to be. It is a form of Xianist brainwashing that does not belong in front of a secular court house.

I say either cut off the top half of the monument, or take the whole thing down.

This has been going on long before Obama came to office.

Besides, Capitalism crashed and burned over the past year, and everyone is suffering from it. Communism is starting to look more and more inviting.

Moses says,“And we captured all his cities at that time and devoted to destruction every city, men, women, and children. We left no survivors”(Deut. 2:34). Or the following,“So the LORD our God gave into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people, and we struck him down until he had no survivor left.... devoting to destruction every city, men, women, and children”(Deut. 3:3, 6).
moses killed women and children, and we should listen to him, what a crock

Controlling case for those who want to learn before they post:

VAN ORDEN V. PERRY 545 U.S. 677 (2005)
351 F.3d 173, affirmed.

http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/03-1500...

" ... The placement of the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds is a far more passive use of those texts than was the case in the "Stone" case, where the text confronted elementary school students every day. Indeed, Van Orden, the petitioner here, apparently walked by the monument for a number of years before bringing this lawsuit. The monument is therefore also quite different from the prayers involved in Schempp and Lee v. Weisman. Texas has treated her Capitol grounds monuments as representing the several strands in the State’s political and legal history. The inclusion of the Ten Commandments monument in this group has a dual significance, partaking of both religion and government. We cannot say that Texas’ display of this monument violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.

The judgment of the Court of Appeals is affirmed.

It is so ordered."

Good luck Haskell County!

"The first 5 of these commandments are very specific to Christianity"

Wrong. Not totally.

1) "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy."

Ever heard of "blue laws" ... businesses forced to be closed on Sunday? Where do you think the idea came from?

2) ""Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. "

This is the basis for the laws that refer to the parents as being responsible for their children's actions until they "age out".

"and the last 5 are general moral values that the laws in this country are based upon."

LOL

RFOL

Pure bovine feces & marxist crapola. EVERY religion &/or society has some for of the "10".

Are you really THAT clueless as to our nation's history? I sincerely hope not.

You can't undo history just because you may not agree, you do understand that concept, I hope.

The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.

I have examined all religions, and the result is that the Bible is the best book in the world."
