Fortville's Broken Government

Why do we elect people to office that won’t do what we want?
The Town of Fortville’s Local Government is broken. We have been plagued with the “good ole’ boy” system for years. Each attempt we make to break the cycle results in an even more divided council. We have gotten to the point that no one actually knows who is in control at Town Hall. Is it the Town Council? Is it he Town Manager? Is it the Town Marshall? We sure know it’s not the people.
This person must live on a corner.
We the people demand change from the broken government we have. We want our voices to be heard, we would like to attend public meetings and express our opinions without fear of retaliation. Our government should be user friendly and create a place that people are proud to call home.
How do we get there?
1.) We the people must have a clear consensus of what we want out of our local government.“Change”
2.) Come the next election cycle Citizens should:
A. Vote out of office candidates that have not shown their loyalties to the citizens
B. Hold debates for our candidates and hold them to the promises that they make.
C. Vote into office the candidate that will represent the people’s wishes
I know all of this seems generic, but without a solid foundation any structure may crumble. I further believe we should initiate a clean sweep at town hall, starting with Elected Officials, Town Manager and Town Marshall. We should have never hired from within our own ranks to start with. Remember, the “Good ole Boy” system is what got us here to start with. We need to hire from outside the ranks and get our town back in order.
The problems with our community start at the top. We need to end the mismanagement and get our community back to where it should be
