what is olympia's regulations on dirt biking noise, fuel emission pollution on private property in olympia? i was visiting from the east coast and couldnt believe the amount of noise and dust, and odor from the constant dirt biking at the property next to where i was visiting. the people i visited said that they thought there was an ordinance , in fact they knew there was one, but no one enforces it and every sunny day , people are out there making noises that are just so overwhelming, i didnt even want to leave their house. does anyone know the law/ thanks!

There is a law,'public nuisance'. Report this as it happens to the local law enforcement. Do not call 911!!!! Have an officer come to the site. He will inform the bikers of the law. If this doesn't work, then the officer can provide you with a form to take to the nearest court to press charges. Get your neighbors together as a group on this or you will lose.

Please explain how your annoyance is a higher priority than the property owners right to use their land as they wish? If the people that you were staying with have a problem with living in a rural area where "noisy" outdoor activities take place, maybe they should move to the suburbs to hear "noisy" mowers and blowers, or the city to hear "noisy" traffic. Coexistence among others means that you sometimes have to give leeway where it is due. Is self-importance the standard where you're from, or is this your own selfish opinion, to dictate to others the rights they should have on their own property? There is a reason the law to limit noise levels on personal property in Washington state did not pass. The majority of us here believe that it is acceptable to be unhappy with something, and take action to avoid that thing (move somewhere else!) instead of forcing our dilemma on the lives of others. Please, don't pollute the happiness of Washington residents with your negative, self-perpetuating behavior. Oh, and by the way, isn't New Jersey like the most polluted state in the union? You have a lot of room to complain about the environmental impact of recreational motorsports!

While I don't live in Washington I can sympathize with people having problems with off road vehicles and the noise and dust they stir up. People should indeed have the right to use their property as they choose as long as that use doesn't infringe on the right of others. When my neighbors are reving their bike's engine and that high pitched whining is so loud that I can't carry on a conversation or enjoy working in my yard they they are limiting my right to use my property as I choose. That old adage: "Your right to swing your arm ends where my face begins" is applicable here. It's really too bad that the bike owners seem to have no concern with how they treat others nor how their actions impact others. If they did their would be no need for a noise ordinance because the bikers would be respectful of other's property because that is the right thing to do.

I don't think property owners would be complaining if there was no excess noise or disrespect. I live in a farming community and lawn mowers, farm equipment etc is not snnoyingly noisy and people are not coming onto my property to use it nor does the noise continue at all hours of the day and night with total disregard of the rights of others.

People should have the right to ride on their land and make as much noise as they want. Its a free country and you should be aloud to have fun and not have the tree Huggers tell you what you can and cannot do.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Sagittarius

After all the excitement of the past few days you're longing for the chance to put your feet up and take life easy for a while. Ideally, you should bury your nose in a good book and be left alone until you resurface for a food transfusion. But you'll also enjoy chatting to someone you know very well and for whom you don't have to make a big effort, such as a close relative.
