That's funny, I just called the city clerk's office and was told the meeting was canceled due to a lack of a quorum.

I'm sure Rosie figured there was NO money in tonights meeting to line her pocket so that was that. I bet she ends up stuffing her face at J&S or Gar dunos instead.

Can you tell I have NOTHING good to say about this RUDE sawed off piece of work that we are FORCED to call Mayor?

Why do they need to hold a meeting to accept a resignation of someone who retired, especially someone who retired 'months ago'. I'm glad to know that my hard earned (property tax) money goes to these useless get togethers.

There was a post about Rosie and her Sister getting free food at Hank Attina's "Wild Coyote"
NOW THAT EXPLAINS EVERTHING

Did they also get free food at Jimmie's
(evidently the rest of the gang did)

Even John Edwards is getting ahem chubby

Rosie to run in the recall?
FAT CHANCE

Was there an agenda packet for todays abortive meeting?

Sorry guys, but with all due respect to J&S and Garduno's and their great food, the mayor does not eat at those establishments.
I wish people would stop lying, it just brings down the whole community.

Heard the meeting was changed to monday. How about some notification ROSIE. Cant wait to see Rosie, Pacheco, Edwards and Salazar on the chain gang, picking up trash for community service hours for the laws she will violate. Urteaga I think already knows about what a chain gang is, most convicted felons do.

She evidently EATS somewhere! I wish she would pack her bags and get out of city hall. She is a total waste of effort and time.

Ok people, this is what happens when you ACTUALLY call city hall and see what happens instead of starting rumors (which we all know is fun, but not very nice).
Evidently staff could not get the wording right for the special meeting agenda, so it got bounced to Monday.
Word is Richard Torres is to resign effective Dec. 3rd. and Nick Pacheco will take over as interim until a person can be found to succeed Richard Torres. Good Luck...

SO VERY TRANSPARENT AND ABOVE THE BOARD GOVERNMENT . All this just could not have been handled at the past council meeting 4 days ago ? Backdoor politics at it's best in the model for politics Montebello . And of course headed by the model of transparency herself, honest Mayor Rosie !

Jimmy gave and continues to give food away. Hoowever he back charged me.... his silent investor since 2005 $14,000.00 in consumed items. How do you explain that? He still owes me over $40,000.00 and does not want to pay. Anyone know of a low cost attorney?(lent him about $70,000.00 and never has paid interest so agreement was I eat there) So glad he did not make it for city council!

Couldn't be done at the last meeting because Mr. Torres was on vacation. I guess he had vacation time he had to use.
What is so backdoor about calling a special meeting to announce the resignation of the city administrator and let the public speak on the matter if they so desire. I don't get it? Please explain.

I did both. First I called the Montebello City Hall then later I went to see the notice on the chamber doors for myself.

As of Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., there was NO NOTICE posted on the chamber doors that the meeting had been rescheduled for Monday.

BOTH of the news reports on this "special meeting" (the announcement and the cancellation) were very clear about what the REAL issue involved here:

"The original agenda had a closed session item listed as "Public Employment and Appointment. City Administrator, Assistant City Administrator and Director of Finance."

The second agenda had a similar closed session item listed as "Public Employee Release/Acceptance of Retirement and Resignation of the City Administrator" and "Public Employment and Appointment. City Administrator, Assistant City Administrator and Director of Finance."

The CLOSED SESSION ITEMS are the concern here!

Public EMPLOYMENT and Appointment:

1. City Administrator
2. Assistant City Administrator
3. Director of Finance

DON'T TRY TO BE COY MR. BE HAPPY!

As much as I agree with where you're going with this, you must remember that any personnel matter does have its privacy issues and as far back as I can remember, no council has EVER discussed personnel matters in public. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. That's not Rosie's or Bill's way of thinking, that's just the way it is.
Sorry, but you can't put this one on Rosie. The people will have their say, and the council will discuss the outcome, but the process will not be open to the public. Sorry...

The reason the notice was never posted was because it was never done right in the first place, The language was incorrect initially, that's why they postponed it till 4:00, then city personnel still couldn't get the language right. That's why I think it's on for Monday.

What is so backdoor !!? How about a special meeting with 24 hr notice and on a Fri.and oh by the way at 4 in the afternoon when most people are still at work and most people don't even know about the meeting. So the public can comment huh ? Why not set the meeting at 7 p.m. or so ? Too many people might show up ? If all was as you say why not show a little more above the board transparency ? Unless Mayor Ro$ie is trying to hide something . In Montebello !!? Naw ,not here !

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Taurus

Catch up with the chores today, especially if you've got a long list of them and you want to get through them all before Christmas. You're feeling nicely efficient without wanting to work yourself into the ground, so carry on at a steady pace. A few well-chosen words in a certain person's ear will be more effective than a lengthy conversation at other times.
