It's about time they take the wrecking ball to LAUSD, their a total failure.
Their statistics for successfully teaching kids sucks, and they gobble up money at record rates and haven't passed a budget audit in years. Treat them lie a drug addict,(addicted to our money and not doing anything good for us). FIRE THEM and let someone else try to do better for a while. With their abismal results, we have very little to loose by trying something else. |

The article started about possible assistance to LAUSD from other school districts. What happened to that focus? Why did the mayor's upcoming travel and other topics come up that had nothing to do with the proposed assistance to LAUSD? I'm not interested in the mayor!

LAUSD is very top heavy, and those heavyweights have no clue about the local districts they supposedly represent. The district (LAUSD) needs to be broken down, and relinquish control to the individual districts with most of the input being from the personnel within the schools. They better know what their clients (students) need than those sitting downtown. Addiitonally, bi-lingual education is more of a hindrance than a help.

Didn't this article begin with the assistance to LAUSD? How did we end up talking about campaigns for 2011?

Don't these other school districts have issues to attend to? For instance, Burbank Unified still has several elementary schools that need to improve their scores. why not fix from within before offering outside help? all the school districts are strap for money so how would they have the time or money to help another district?

It's crucial that LAUSD be given a great deal of help. It's apparent that it can't cope with the amount of students, and the lack of funds. Breaking up LAUSD would be the first in a series of steps to aid students. It's best for schools with exceeding test scores to be the ones to take over.

Berry true, and I am a graduate of LAUSD. Today half the "educate" never make it out of High School. Anogher good reason to scrap the system. |
