It was nice to see Brocton represented at the latest meeting toward a merger. Too bad so few Fredonians felt it necessary to attend. Too bad that Edith Byrne chose to use her Body English to tell the crowd how she felt. She moped and shook her head and represented all that is negative about Fredonia. I know she doesn't represent the majority of opinion in Fredonia, but her sourpuss sure spoke volumes.

Edith Byrne and her supporters cost the Fredonia taxpayers 300 thousand dollars with the loss of tuition students. She needs to be voted out at the next election.

That person from Brocton that had a letter in todays observer is very ignorant, she complains that Fredonia wants a merger to pay the million back to the State, first, Fredonia has since filed the paperwork, so what FCS owes is a wash, if FCS paid it, the State would then give it back after the paperwork goes through. Second, this Brocton resident must be senile, because she forgets that Brocton does owe the State about Six Hundred Thousand, which does have to be paid back. It is unfortunate that this person opened her mouth with her pen and did not have a clue what she was talking about and also chose to ignore that fact that her Brocton owes money. What she does not also realize, is that Brocton relies more on State Aid than Fredonia does, her School taxes are higher than Fredonia's are, she is also going to face a HUGE tax increase in Brocton, which Brocton with a very small tax base cannot afford. Do some research before you write a public letter.
She should have done some research first, she is speaking from the heart, not the Brain or Pocketbook

actually you sound very uninformed. Facts about each school debt were presented at a public meeting very recently. The state owes Brocton more than Brocton owes the state and Fredonia does need to pay back a million dollars. Brocton tax rate is also lower than Fredonia. Anyone who thinks that a state who is wondering how to make their payroll for this month and is already cutting back on state aid to all districts will make good on a 30 million dollar "promise" is the one who is senile.

Sorry Broctons Tax rate is higher, you have to look at the property e-vaul not the face value. If you are at full value, your tax will look look like it is lower than someone who is at partial value, when you compare them as apples to apples, Fredonia's is lower, Brocton does not have much of a tax base, Fredonia's is almost 5 times Broctons, Your taxes are higher because they have to be to generate any money. If Fredonia does pay the money back, because the missing paperwork has since been filed, the State will then pay the money back to Fredonia, so it is a wash. For a 1% raise in taxes, Brocton generates $34,000, for Fredonia 1% generates $150,000, BIG difference! Know what you are talking about first.

Today is potentially very romantic, as the Moon and Venus make love in your house of relationships. If you open up your heart, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The Bull is slow to fall in love, but tends to be very loyal and committed, which makes it important for you to choose your partners wisely. It may just be that the love of your life is already by your side.
