While the Bible does address homosexuality, it does not explicitly mention gay marriage/same-sex marriage. It is clear, however, that the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. First Corinthians 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful. Whenever the Bible mentions marriage, it is between a male and a female. The first mention of marriage, Genesis 2:24, describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife. In passages that contain instructions regarding marriage, such as 1 Corinthians 7:2-16 and Ephesians 5:23-33, the Bible clearly identifies marriage as being between a man and a woman. Biblically speaking, marriage is the lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable environment for that family. http://www.gotquestions.org/gay-marriage.html Read some of these verses. I just want all of you to know. 22 You shall not lie with ra male as with a woman. It is an abomination.(Leviticus 18:12) 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other ...(Romans 1:26-27) 9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders (1 Corinthians 6:9) 24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh (Genesis 2:24) I know everyone will be mad about this post but feel that it is right to let people know what the bible says about it. If you can find verses to support gay marriage please post them so I can read them. I like to be well informed. I also don't want to tell my children wrong if you can find it, post it. Thanks..

You are quoting the bible as it was written and how someone once interpreted it many years ago. There are many different interpretations and not all can be taken as 100% accurate. IE..we would not have such an obesity problem in the world if everyone followed the bible and did not eat in excess.
I could go on for some time, but here are my thoughts. Be kind to your fellow man, don't break the law, be honest, find your true love (man or woman) and enjoy life!! Life is too short!!

Religiously, I agree that marriage should be between a man and woman. But I also believe that homosexuals are born feeling the way they feel. I've known many adults now that even as kids everyone knew would feel this way as an adult just by the way the acted as did they know the same. So morally, I believe people that feel this way cannot help this as it is not there fault. I guess I'm on the fence...

I think it is more of partners rights under the law that are at stake for most couples. Legal stuff like taxes and insurance that gay dudes want recognized not church weddings and groom showers. But hey I'm just a gaydude who am I to say.

I think gaydude above makes a very valid point. I myself have been in a relationship with my partner for over 9 years. Neither one of us at this time have any desire to get married, but it would be nice to have a choice. I too would like the tax deductions and the cheaper insurnace, but unfortunately those privileges are reserved for only the straight population.
This is America, right??

Yeah, this is America, Home of the Free , I think not, We arent *FREE* to make our own choices when it comes to our personal lives. I mean, To me, there isn't ONE person be it man or woman who hasnt at least thought of being with a same sex partner for one reason or another.
In Europe it is very much PRO gay rights, everything really.OVER HERE ... Did you know if you were to die tomorrow your partner has NO right whatsoever. I MEAN NONE! It happened to my brother and his partner. They BOTH bought their home, cars, so on and so forth, but because they were gay, niether one of them to take anything without the families consent. REALLY CRAPPY HUH! So they up and moved to New Zeland. They are happy now and healthier than ever.

And just so you know that if you don't have "or" on the paper work when your spouse dies, you have to go to probate court to gain the right to property.

Leviticus also tells us that eating shrimp and lobster is an abomination. And that a person should not wear material woven of two kinds of material. In Paul’s letter to the community in Corinth we read,‘For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church….’ And yet these words have not prevented Christian denominations from ordaining women. There is alot that the bible tells us....we should just live and treat others with kindness. Like someone posted above, life is to short - live it!

I knew it wouldn't take long for the small minded to take in upon themselves to respond to this thread. It saddens me to think that there is still so much hate in this world. And to the writer listed above known as Huckleberry.......I assure you that I do not have a hormone imbalance or psychological problem. I simply have know since I was very young that I was gay, probably just as easily that you knew you were straight from the beginning. One more thing, aids was spread originally from monkeys in Africa and in the early 80's was noted to be spreading quickly through the gay population but was also spreading just as quickly through the drug user population. Please check your facts.

They are quick to throw out verses and such but doesn't the bible also tell us to not judge others! I think it is everyones right to find love, why should we be the ones to tell a person who they can and can't love. There would be an uproar if the courts told a couple that they couldn't get married because they were ugly looking....its the same thing. You are telling a gay couple they can't get married because it isn't right...well I know a shit load of straight people that are married that are not right!
