HMR from Enfield... I'll charter DATTCO bus and send you a bus load of homeless drunks from New London (who very well may have originally been from your part of the state). Since as you stated, "they are wasted beacuse of an addiction which obviously they can not cure" I will pack a few coolers of refreshements for their journey. Now you can deal with them in all their daily drunken glory. I know with your enlightened attitude you will not find them "unsightly or uncomfortable" Good Luck and Good Ridance!

Speaking from ground zero in New London, the Shoreliner from Wallingford has the facts right. The other shoreliner from Meriden is insulting the messenger because they have nothing else to offer

As of 8/24/08 Ms Zall continues to refuse breathtesting of shelter residents. Police called for a disturbance at shelter involving intoxicated male, while Ms Zall stood idly by when police arrived.

How can you turn them away with a .08 alcohol level? It is dangerous for someone with an alcohol level of .08 to be walking on the street. They are at risk of injuring themselves or being hit by a vehicle. Since alcohol lowers the bodies temperature, those turned away in cold weather are more likely to freeze to death.

How can they be turned away when it is dangerous for a person with an alcohol level of .08 to be walking on the street. They are at risk of injuring themselves or being hit by a moving vehicle. In addition, alcohol lowers the body's temperature. Therefore, in cold weather those turned away have an increased risk of freezing to death!!!

If they have that level they should be sent to a medical facility. All it takes is one drunk dying in the shelter and there will be a law suit filed so quickly, by a relative that could give a crap less about them when they were alive, but now, in death, they are a winning lotto ticket!
