Hillbilly...you've got your own subject now. I actually like you. You speak from your heart. I gotta tell you though. You gotta get rid of some of that anger. I'm not sure where it originated..You seem to have something against anyone that shows signs of success or that makes a decent amount of money. I think you said you worked at GT for 30+ years. If that's the case, money should not be a problem to you. I've been gone from Mayfield for some time now and most of my family worked at GT. Some of those family members are deceased and their wives still reap the benefits of their retirement and healthcare. If you did a terrible job of saving money and now do not live the lifestyle you'd like, don't be angry at everyone on here that makes more than minimum wage. I can't count the number of postings on here that mentions the Arbors. Sure, for Mayfield it's a nice n'hood. Those people all work for a living just like you. I know this because I have several friends that live there and i can assure you that they're not out trying to screw somebody to make a dollar. The main reason I left Mayfield is because there wasn't an opportunity for me there. I could have gotten a job at General but everyone could see the writing on the wall there. What the company gave you was never enough and you guys priced yourself out of jobs. This is a capitalistic society and most of us have the mindset to go out, make a good or great living, and try to give our families a better lifestyle than what we had. Unfortunately, in Mayfield and many other places around this great country, too many are trying to figure out a way to get a check from the government and when they're not doing that, they're bitching that people that make more than them are out trying to "beat the man down". If times are bad somewhere, you move, you learn a new trade, you do something positive. When i say "you"...I'm not talking about you personally, I'm talking about people in general. This country is getting addicted to gov't handouts and money like crack. And once you're on it....it's damn hard to break that habit. Just don't let so much stuff get to you man....When life gives you lemons...make lemonade (and hope you run into guy that life gave vodka).

Ok, first I going to tell you I am OK. I have money. But I have a heart. I do not like to see someone going hungry or doing without. I give to the toys for tots here. I am not greedy. But one thing that gets me if ppl looking down on ppl. Another thing I do not like change. They are changing Mayfield and it is not for the best. My opinion. It seems that the same old ppl runs this town and I am tired of it. I do not draw a gov. check except for my land usda subsidys. I spent 36 years at that dame tire plant. You do not know what ppl went through down there. That is the reason I became a Union Stewart. I stood up to the company for the ones that could not. I do not take no drugs no meds. I am in a SOUND MIND. My Pappy taught me to treat ppl like you wanted to be treated. You know some ppl stop walking in their Pappys footsteps. My Grandpappy, I do not know what he would say about Mayfield. Another thing I have good times I like to drink Jim Beam some. But I am not a drunk. That crack stuff I would not know what it looks like if it walk in my house. Some ppl has to have gov handouts. I been told oh you guys down at the tire plant take that cut and save your job. Well I told them I would give up my gov usda subsidys if they gave up theirs. WELL they change their tune then. Folks I will never look down on yall. DO NOT LOOK DOWN ON ME.

I know you're a good man. I'll be you know my brother inlaw too. He was one of the last ones out and was still around working as a liason between the union and the company for sometime even after the plant closed. His initials are W.C. and he was there about 30 years. |

Another thing, My Grandpappy was a farmer. He made a good living doing it. He did not have USDA back then. He passed the farm down and the BIG FARMER force us out. Like I said I am just in it part time now. BIG FARMER has gone inc.. That is why land is high around here. The more land you have the more money you get. But one thing they will NOT GET MY LAND. It will be passed down to my grandkids.
